About me

Hello and Welcome! I’m so glad you are here. Seeking help for your mental well-being is a brave step.
My name is Erin and I am a Clinical Social Worker practicing in Texas. I have been providing mental health services to a diverse set of clients experiencing a wide variety of issues and challenges since 2009. My approach to therapy is primarily client-centered. I seek to validate and honor your unique experiences from your perspective, and to tap into that self-knowledge as our guiding source for the direction of therapy. In addition to a client-centered approach, I draw upon an array of therapeutic modalities and concepts. I adapt my approach to address each client’s particular set of needs, and we will evolve the approach over time through therapist-client collaboration and as I continue to expand my offerings through my ongoing professional development. Principles that inform my approach come from modalities such as mindfulness and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), existential therapy, and body-oriented approaches among others.
I earned my B.S. in Psychology from Michigan State University in 2007 and my Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 2008. After graduation, I worked in partial hospitalization settings, helping individuals with serious and persistent mental health issues to develop skills to help them manage their symptoms and improve their functioning in a supportive environment. After that I worked for 8 years as a Readjustment Counselor providing psychotherapy to Veterans and their family members, primarily on issues stemming from exposure to combat or sexual traumas during their service. Most recently I lived abroad in Amsterdam for a year and a half, during which time I completed training in teaching Vinyasa Yoga, and also gained knowledge in making yoga practices more trauma-informed. Now that I am back living in the US, I am excited to bring all of these experiences into my therapy practice with you!
I believe each client possesses unalienable strengths, and I seek to help them better connect with these sometimes-underutilized resources. I also recognize that clients exist inside systems and environments that have contributed to the development of their challenges. I seek to meet clients with authenticity, while establishing a supportive, trusting therapeutic relationship that enables the process of healing, self-exploration, and growth.
Outside of my professional practice, I enjoy gardening, yoga, walking my dog, traveling, and spending quality time with my family. I look forward to connecting with you soon to talk more about your interest in therapy.
