About Me

I believe that you are the expert on your own life and are filled with your own wisdom – sometimes you just need help accessing it.

I am a licensed clinical social worker in Kentucky and have spent my career working with people who are struggling with a wide variety of problems, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, and addictions. I especially enjoy working with LGBTQ clients, who tend to appreciate the fact that they don’t have to educate me about the daily realities of their lives.

I take a non-judgmental and open-minded approach to all my clients, no matter the kind of problem they’re struggling with. I tailor my interventions to meet the needs of each client, but my overall approach tends to combine cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic therapies, with a pinch of existentialism to tie it all together.

The core beliefs that guide me as a therapist are:

• We may not be responsible for the things that have happened to us, but we are always responsible for figuring out how to deal with them.
• Our interpretations of events (the stories we tell ourselves) are often what cause us problems, not the events themselves.
• Changing our thinking can change our behavior, and vice versa.
• Sometimes our actions are driven by factors outside our consciousness, and exposing these dynamics can help us regain control.

This has been a great experience and has helped in ways one to one in person therapy has not. Having that one step apart made it so much easier to talk and the ability to message 24 hrs was extremely helpful. Especially during bad times.

Erin is such a good listener, and great at helping me really break down my own experiences and thoughts in a way that supports the thoughts and experiences themselves, so that I can see them even more clearly. My primary thoughts and goals in life revolve around personal growth, and she reminds me to see what I consider my problems as promoting that growth. I was stuck in a period where I forgot that sometimes the hard things are what we move through to get to that growth, and was feeling nothing but overwhelm and inability to move in any direction privately or professionally.

I know that with Erin I have a supporter who can help me make the shifts I really want to make, and potentially face the interpersonal trials in my life that I may not be so keen on otherwise.

I feel Erin’s self-awareness, understanding, and sensitivity to those she counsels is high, and those qualities are really priceless in a therapist. As a thriving and quite happy person in the world who has faced physical trauma, PTSD, and identifies as an LGBTQ person, they are certainly essential in meeting me where I’m at at any given moment.
