About Me

I have an extensive background in working with the LGBTQ+ community, depression, anxiety disorders, and severe mental health disorders. My approach is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy. My approach to therapy is more eclectic and I focus on what is best for the client. I utilize the client's experience as well as how they respond to drive my approach. I understand that people are fluid and so should the approach to therapy.

I feel very lucky to have found Erin here on Better Help. I feel heard and understood and, as if that is not already really cool and useful, I feel like she takes this exploration further with the correct (and direct!) questions about what I am going through. English is not my mother language and I am not originally from an English-speaking country but I never feel like a foreigner in our conversations and I also see her effort to "translate" cultural differences into the common context in which we are working together. This (finding a therapist, speaking about difficult topics trying to find peace within, etc.) is an overall challenging process, but I feel at my ease with Erin.

If you want a therapist that will ask you questions and get straight to the point (which is what I wanted) then Erin is definitely for you. She has a way to her that makes you realize your problems as you are telling them to her or the way she responds makes you feel like they arent the worst in the world and anything can be changed for the better.

For starters, I hate therapy. But like wiping our butts, it’s something we have to do. Erin has made it very easy for me to be honest with her and myself. She doesn’t BS you. She tells you what you need to hear but in a way that helps you realize it yourself. She’s the reason I’m still here today.

Erin is fantastic and I feel that our sessions have really helped me in a short period of time. I feel significantly more calm and rational going about my day. I also feel more mindful. She really knows how to listen and help you work through your thoughts in real time and I often find that we are on the same page. I highly recommended working with her if you are struggling with depression or anxiety you will notice a difference after the first session.

From my first session with Erin I felt not only heard, but she was extremely good at helping to clarify my thoughts and present her opinion and feedback in a way that was non intrusive and didn't feel forceful. She is easy to understand, clearly has a great depth of experience and has me feeling comfortable for future sessions. As someone who avoided therapy for many years under the classic questioning of if it would help, and if so even how, I can definitely say that in the small amount of time I have been working with Erin that the experience has made me glad that I reached out through Better Help and was matched with her.
