Erling Antonsson, LPC
About me
My name is Erling Antonsson and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Iceland in 1992 and went on to receive an M.S. in Counseling Education from the University of North Texas in 2005. I welcome the opportunity to work with anyone who is seeking help in the face of stressful or overwhelming life circumstances. I have 13 years of successful experience providing caring support and guidance in the areas of depression, anxiety, grief, loss, sexual abuse, anger, parenting, childhood development, child/adolescent behavioral concerns, major life changes, Military Life and cross-cultural issues.
I believe that every person carries resources and solutions within themselves and that as a counselor it is my job to help you develop your ability to recognize and draw on those innate strengths in a safe environment. As needed I will introduce you to new methods to manage difficult emotions and situations and to grow your quality of life. I always focus on working with whatever presents itself in each session. I also like to emphasize the importance of healthy relationships in the process of healing and growth and I work with this idea by building a trusting relationship with my clients during our sessions.
I work with mindfulness practices and have personal experience with the benefits of meditation and mindfulness in addition to other methods such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. With a compassionate and supportive approach, I look forward to helping you develop positive skills and strategies for wellbeing.
