About Me

Greetings! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. I started my work in a medical clinic for the under served Latino population. I have a passion in working with the immigrant community as I have a firsthand experience seeing what my parents and family have lived while adjusting to a new country. This experience gave me the opportunity to help many clients experiencing an adjustment disorder. It also awarded me the opportunity to work with first generation teens and help guide them navigate American life while holding dear their parent’s culture.
I also have experience working with an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with case managers, physicians, psychiatrists, and nurses. This was done in a primary care clinic working with clients struggling with symptoms of depression and anxiety who had been referred by their primary care physician. I specifically enjoyed working with women experiencing postpartum depression.
Currently I am working with the substance abuse population. This has awarded me yet another opportunity in seeing the absolute necessity of addressing both the dependence on a substance and mental health struggles, because they truly go hand in hand.
I am bilingual English/Spanish and if ‘Spanglish’ suits you, I am comfortable in communicating with you in both English and Spanish.
All the settings I have worked in have allowed me to address an array of struggles such as: familial issues, relationship issues, stress, depression, anxiety, life transitions, role changes, hard time adjusting, self-esteem and some level of trauma. My approach is gentle yet direct and always client centered. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

AMAZING counselor! Esmeralda focused on my concerns from minute one and has been working with me to figure out helpful, attainable goals that will help me build myself back up to what I know I can be. Would recommend to anyone to work with her!
