About me

I own and operate a private practice in Conway, Arkansas called Jones Counseling Services, LLC where I provide my services as an Arkansas licensed professional counselor (LPC). I grew up in Conway in the 70s and 80s where I attended and graduated from Hendrix College in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology. I moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1994 where I attended Forest Institute of Professional Psychology and graduate from in 1998 with a master’s degree in professional psychology. Following that, I moved to St. James, Missouri where I worked at Boys’ and Girls’ Town of Missouri and earned my Missouri license to provide counseling services in 2002. I moved back to Springfield and opened Empowerment Counseling, LLC with a partner. For the next few years, I provided psychotherapy for children, adolescents and their families referred to me primarily by Missouri Division of Family Services (DFS) and Missouri Division of Youth Services (DYS). I moved back to Conway in 2017 where I opened Jones Counseling Services, LLC.

I have enjoyed my 20 plus years of experience in helping a large, diverse, group of individuals and their families in Arkansas and southwest Missouri four years of age and older with a wide range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, abuse (verbal, mental, physical and/or sexual), trauma, low self-esteem, identity issues, family problems and so forth. I have helped them in different settings including my office, their homes, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, schools and churches. I see my clients individually, as couples, families and/or in groups. I have met with my clients in person face-to-face or virtually using online therapy.

My approach to therapy is based on Carl Rogers’ cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which I modify to meet the unique individual needs of each of my clients and their families. Instead of trying to solve my client’s problems, I help them identify and figure out how to solve their problems themselves. This includes making sure each client understands the pros and cons of every decision they make. I successfully help clients resolve their problems by first creating a positive relationship with each one. This is essential in earning a mutual respect between each of my clients and me, because that enables me to develop the positive therapeutic relationship I need to earn my clients’ to earn their trust and respect. Therefore, I do not judge my clients by their race, ethnicity, religious or political views, gender or sexual preferences. This along with my own life's experiences relative to having epilepsy allows me to sympathize well with others giving me the opportunity to help a wide variety of people.

Respectfully yours,
F. Dunn Jones, MA, LPC, NCC, ABDD

Very calming and understanding. Really helped to give me a better outlook on navigating relationships with family and how to view things in a constructive way.

I just recently started back up with Therapy after years of avoiding it thinking I can handle things on my own. It has been great to get with a therapist that will take the time to listen and acknowledge what I'm going through. He is great.

He's one of the few good ones I've seen. He really does listen, care and understand. I'd definitely recommend him.
