Qualifications: I earned my B.S. in Psychology from the University of Dayton. I also have received training in Youth
Mental Health First Aid, Psychological First Aid and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I graduated
from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
in December of 2018.
Experience: I have several years of paraprofessional experience working in the exceptional children’s department
of Guilford County Schools. My experiences in Guilford County include working with children with interpersonal
and behavioral issues. I also worked at Easter Seals with adolescences on reaching life skills and social goals. Prior
to my degree and my work for Guilford County, I worked with children focusing on social thinking skills. Over the
course of 2 years, I received graduate experience and professional experience focusing primarily on trauma and co-occurring disorders. Since receiving my license I provided case management to clients recently released from an inpatient unit. I have been practicing as an outpatient therapist since 2019.
My approach to counseling is based upon “motivational interviewing” developed by William Miller and Stephen
Rollnick, “behavioral therapy” developed by B. F. Skinner, Albert Bandura and Arnold Lazarus and “cognitive
behavioral therapy” developed by Aaron Beck. These are well established, researched, and respected approaches to
counseling. You are encouraged to become knowledgeable about their goals, methods, and effectiveness. I believe
that each individual is capable of self-direction and growth. I strive to form a relationship with each client that will
assist in achieving these ends. In the counselor-client relationship, I focus on creating an atmosphere of genuineness,
acceptance, and empathic understanding in which the individual is free to become the person he or she chooses to be.

I feel comfortable talking to her. And her words are so calming.
