About Me

I'm a licensed clinical professional counselor in the state of Florida. As a clinician I have supported clients looking for assistance in managing their anxiety, depression, reducing the effects of previous trauma, coping with marital problems, adjustments in life, stress of parenting, and fight through addiction. I have worked in both outpatient and residential care settings that have allotted me with various clinical approaches and interventions.

I would describe my counseling style as warm, calming, and interactive. I believe in treating clients with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral and the mindfulness approach of acceptance commitment therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

Garrett is a brilliant counselor. He is an active listener and has always put in the effort to build trust and good rapport. His approach is practical, he offers a different perspective on all sorts of situations, and suggests multiple tools and techniques for working through problems. Highly recommend!

Garret is a great counsellor. He is respectful and kind though also not afraid to ask challenging questions. He’s given me the space that I need to think through my difficulties and is always positive and supportive. He’s easy to talk to and you get the sense that you are talking to a person, not a screen. I have definitely felt my mindset shift since starting sessions.
I am also a mental health professional, and Garrett has been understanding and helpful to me in my professional role as well as in my personal life. I highly recommend him as a counsellor.

Excellent counselor! Very experienced and genuinely cares. Awesome strategies given for those who have already been through counseling (not the same old mindfulness/meditation which do work--but I already do). Highly recommended!

Garret is a great counselor and actually listens to your problems and provides personalized feedback. He also checks in if you haven't replied in a few days which is really nice.

Garrett has been really great at helping me through my depression / social anxiety. He's encouraged and supported my efforts to get out more and embrace the best parts of myself. I normally don't care about having a therapist of the same gender but for whatever reason I made that choice when signing up for BetterHelp and I'm so glad I did. Garrett has been willing to relate to me using his own experiences and identified with my feelings of being 'in a rut' and that has made a huge difference.

Garett is a good listener and doesn't shy away from getting to the core of your problems. He has a sound knowledge on how the brain works and has helped me see the world through a healthier lense.

Written by S.T. on Mar 15, 2020 after counseling with Garrett for 5 months on issues concerning stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, parenting issues, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue

I've had my share of counseling sessions and counselors over the years, and Garrett has by far been the best fit for me. I find that he is very flexible in conversations, and can shift gears when he needs to so as to help address an issue. He is transparent about his approach to our conversations and is happy to abandon one approach for another. But the thing I like best about Garrett is that he's direct, personable, and practical. Though he's a highly qualified professional, you're talking to a real person here. I needed support with a difficult relationship and he's given me some great tools to use to manage that relationship. Excellent counselor.

Cooper is brilliant therapist and I recommend him a 100 percent. He is insightful and has a deft way of getting to the crux of a person's underlying issues. He asks a lot of thought provoking questions.. which sometimes one does not really want to answer.

Within two sessions with Garry I am able put my full trust in Mr. Cooper’s expertise. He is honest, very friendly, genuine, understands the theory and is able to practice his knowledge in a respectable manner. My experience with Garry is fun, exciting and I learn so much from him. He does not only helps you with your problems, but is also very capable of making you understand the reasoning behind your concerns. 10/10 would recommend Mr. Garrett!

So far Mr. Cooper has been of great help! He asks the right questions to allow me to put things in perspective. He also has been very helpful to distill the root cause of a problem is even when it feels like there are many problems happening at once.
