Geoffrey Hanley
About me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been in the field of mental health for almost ten years. I have experience in a wide variety of settings including homes, schools, clinics, and psychiatric hospitals. My initial approach with you as an individual will be to build rapport, identify needs, initiate change, and develop results. Where it goes from there depends on our honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness to try.
My experience in therapy is based primarily in helping others with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Of course, there are other factors of equal importance including stress, self-esteem, relationships, conflict, anger, motivation, abuse, trauma, spirituality, and the list goes on. I am open to exploring what is most important to you.
As a therapist, I collaborate with a variety of techniques, and while trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I am a hardcore Humanist with a dry sense of humor. I am also a strong believer in progress through creative expression and physical outlets. Some of my own areas of interest include music, exercise, cooking, and home improvement. I advocate for staying active, setting goals, trying new things, and remaining in the present.
