About Me

I am Glenda L. Vélez, licensed psychologist and I'm glad you made the decision to talk about your concerns with someone in my profession. Is this the first time you've reached out to someone like me? I know and I truly understand this is a very difficult choice, but I want to assure you that I will try my best to assist you in this process. I want you to be clear and comfortable with our work. Give yourself the opportunity of exploring the benefits of our conversations. I believe I can offer an open, welcoming, and non judgmental space to discuss, explore, and express your thoughts, emotions, and concerns. Empathy, solidarity, and support goes a long way towards the journey of healing.

I have been licensed for 17 years as a Psychologist; first in Puerto Rico, now in Arizona. I see mental health as the equivalent of healing; I will make my biggest effort to provide a safe space for you to do that. I have worked in juvenile corrections, women's corrections, EAP programs, private practice, teaching graduate courses, and in private practice with children, adolescents, adults, elderly, families, and couples, among other experiences as a psychologist.

Counseling with Dr. Vélez was invaluable. I could be completely honest with my problems and I never felt judged. As a grad student, my schedule is hectic but she worked with it and was very flexible. She sent me resources that really flipped a light switch for me and helped me understand my issues. After finishing therapy with her, I feel much lighter emotionally and mentally. I highly recommend BetterHelp with Dr. Vélez.

She is awesome. Very thoughtful and patient, willing to understand my point of view and never shames me or makes me feel bad. She is very easy to get along with and makes the experience enjoyable while at the same time as making progress on my goals!

I’ve been going through a really tough time emotionally from a difficult divorce. I sought individual therapy to gain perspective and understand more about why I think the way I do. Glenda took the time to get to know me first, by letting me just talk... with no judgement..... I’ve been to therapy before, albeit with my soon to be ex, and the counselor there seemed to want to judge from day one which was not helpful to me during a vulnerable time. I’m very thankful for her and it’s only been two sessions. She is compassionate and knowledgeable and it gives me comfort and I will continue to see her and I would recommend her to anyone .

Glenda Velez makes me feel as if she's really hearing me, and helps me clarify my feelings more than I've done in "face to face" situations because I don't feel as if I need to "act" a certain way. I think she's doing an excellent job of enticing me out of my ego and shell. And I'm grateful for that.

Glenda Velez is very supportive, listens well, and gives great tools to help get to the source of an issue or concern. She guides, rather than talks at you. She is very helpful and patient, and gives lots of positive encouragement.
