Gregory Hayes, LCSW
About me
Thank you for taking the time to consider me as your counselor. I have had 20 plus years working with individuals, couples and families, many of whom were experiencing acute distress, hopelessness, and were generally in some type of crisis; typically, they presented with complex and difficult problems often involving the courts, child welfare agencies, etc... Therefore, out of necessity I have learned how to promptly identify core problematic issues, connect with the person(s) in need of help and develop a specific, concrete measurable plan to get them back on track. I am action oriented because most people want to address their problems and get on with life.
In terms of modality of treatment, I am humanistic/person-centered in approach, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) frequently. I listen well, build on your strengths and work closely with you to reach the outcome that is important to you. The fact that you are reaching out for help shows that you are motivated to change; sometimes I have found that a person’s failed attempted solution to solve their problem is actually working to help maintain the problem. The addition of fresh eyes and out-of-the-box thinking, and a few targeted interventions can go a long way towards getting you back on the road to happiness. So, whether your issues are anxiety, depression, addiction related, trauma and abuse, relational, or working on a life problem that seems to be unresolvable, I can help you take back your life.
In short, life itself is challenging by nature as we experience positive and negative thoughts, behaviors and emotions – the key is to learn coping skills to help us adapt and adjust to the surprises life will present.
