Reaching out to a therapist feels like the first time in a bathing suit after a long winter on the couch. Yes, it's scary, but it can also be transformative. When we are struggling in life, feeling stuck, hurt, confused, or alone. We all deserve a place to talk with someone who we know will not judge or shame us, but instead walk alongside us to create change, grow, heal and come into more fullness in ourselves and our relationships.
My approach is holistic, collaborative & strength based. As a therapist, I am warm, open, encouraging & direct. My goal is for clients to use therapy as a tool to gain enough insight & coping skills to think, feel, & behave in such a way that feels genuine & authentic to you.
Whether we are conscious of it or not, we all live our lives my rules that have been formed by our past, creating patterns of behavior that influence how we interact with those around us. Someones we can get in our own way, limiting our growth, healing and restoration.
I practice from an attachment perspective which focuses on important relationships in our lives and the innate human need to feel connected, loved & supported.
--------------WHAT I OFFER--------------
Looking for relief from anxiety, life transitions, struggling with current relationships, exploring or expanding your self-identity, wanting to change self-limiting beliefs or start a fresh new phase of life. The encouragement and feedback you receive in from good old-fashioned talk therapy, allows a connection when someone wants to be heard, for another person to “see” them, understand and support them. Nothing else matches the healing power of a trusting, intimate relationship with another human being.
Creating a supportive space in which to explore communication dynamics and sex positivity in heterosexual and LGBTQ relationships. I work with couples to help them overcome issues by creating an awareness of strengths and challenges.
EATING DISORDERS & BODY IMAGE
Most individuals that struggle with disordered eating face ambivalence in therapy, like gaining weight, eating "normal" food and purging. As a result, engaging clients to make a change is a big part of treatment. Managing anxiety is another one. For many, life has often revolved around managing their eating disorder, often creating an imbalance in other areas of life. It also requires patience as the treatment can be long and often have bumpy roads. In addition to counseling, working with a licensed dietitian is also crucial for recovery and I can recommend several in the area that can provide assistance and nutritional support.
ADDICTION & CODEPENDENCY
Acknowledging that you need help is never easy, but it’s one of the best things you can do for yourself. Whether you’ve decided to get help to control or moderate your alcohol or drug use, or just want to explore the role that addiction might play in your life, you are being proactive in getting help. Addiction is a family illness that inevitably alters the lives of everyone. I can help those suffering from their loved ones addiction as we navigate a new course with healthy limits and redraw our boundaries to include what is, and isn't, within our control.

I'm so unbelievable grateful that I was able to be matched with Gwen. It's so difficult finding a good counselor that specializes in eating disorders, and I'm so grateful for betterhelp allowing me to connect with a counselor not in my immediate area that actually specializes in EDs. Gwen has helped me so much, and I would recommend her to anyone I know!
Gwen has been great! She is very easy to open up to and I really appreciate how she shares her own stories and experiences to help me understand my concerns better.
She is great!
My life has been positively impacted by Gwen. She is caring, smart and extremely joyful. I am so grateful for this service and her presence in my life.
Gwen is awesome. Though we have only video chatted once. But thats due to me being sick and I would feel bad if I had to vomit during are live chat. But she responds to me in a timely matter. Gives me the advice I usually need to here to figure curtain things out. And the meditation videos and books to help me with my daughter are helping. Tho I've only tried the meditation a few times. Its does seem to help.
Gwen listens well and provides good, unbiased advice.
