About me

Hi, my name is Hannah Bergland, and I am a Independently Licensed Social Worker in the state of Iowa (IA #007697, exp 12/31/2022).

When asked about my therapeutic approach, I would say my main goal is to listen to clients on a deeper level than one generally encounters, to support you to remove the blocks and barriers to a more full life.

Although there are many ways to navigate through these areas, I believe that a mix of empathy, insight, exploring past and present dynamics, and setting concrete goals seem to help many navigate their inner struggles and the complexities of life. I intentionally avoid giving many of my own opinions or advice. It seems more important to listen and reflect back what I hear and ask questions that get at the core issues. The goal is that you walk away with the clarity for your own situation, empowered to make the changes you desire - you are truly the expert of your own life.

I am not the therapist that will say anything just to make you feel better, yet equally important, I am not critical. My approach is to help you to come to an unbiased assessment of the situation or dynamic. Most people say that they find me easy to talk to, genuine, and someone who can hold space for sadness, grief, and anger. It is also important for me to join in the lighter moments with a laugh or celebrate change.

I look forward to having the opportunity to see if working together is a good fit and learning more about your situation. Wishing you wholeness and healing.

I was amazed at how intuitive this site is, and so grateful for being matched with Hannah Bergland. She's thoughtful, kind, supportive and is making me rethink years of behavior that wasn't always in my best interest. I'm learning so much and feeling validated and stronger than I have for a long time.
