Heather Birr

About Me

My name is Heather Birr. I have built a life of wellness after having some very tough situations in childhood. My personal history has allowed me to know what it is like first to recover and then thrive through mental wellness. We all face challenges in adulthood at times especially when having experienced a turbulent childhood. Anyone can find recovery, healing and learn to improve well being emotionally with radical self-acceptance. I have 23 years of experience as a mental health provider and leader. I am an eclectic therapist and use a mixture of cognitive therapies, solution focused work and motivational interviewing and other modalities. I also am a trauma trained specialist and have acted as a mental health disaster specialist when large scale natural disasters happen. Many times individuals aren’t able to recognize symptoms of anxiety and depression that often occur from experiences they do not even think of as traumatic. I also specialize in intimate partner violence and individuals struggling to work or live with others who have narcissistic and controlling tendencies. Having been a high performing executive for 12 years, I also know the stress, personality dynamics and challenges of the workplace personally and professionally. I have successfully worked with many from all types of careers to find happiness and success in their careers. Working with women’s focused wellness is also an area I have vast experience and am committed to empowering equity for all people. Working with individuals who face discrimination, abandonment, or isolation for their sexuality, lifestyle or choice to marry outside of their race is a well developed area of my practice. I have a broad range of experience and have back round in family origin challenges, adoption and adoption through foster care barriers. I look forward to working with you on your journey to wellness.
