Heather Bowman

(LCSW, Reiki, Master-Teacher)

About Me

During my 9 years in the mental health field, I have been working with individuals experiencing a myriad of difficulties stemming from political, socioeconomic and situational variables. I respect all aspects of people including race, ethnicity, gender expression, sexual orientation, socio-economic background, age, religion and ability. I am a proud ally.

As a practicing behaviorist, psychodynamic therapist and Reiki master. My treatment approach is to act as a guide through the presenting disharmonies and provide the tools needed to make situations manageable, while resolving current problems and dis-servicing patterns. Therapeutic specializations include trauma, cognitive behavioral and insight-oriented therapies, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy and spiritual and religious counseling . Treatment specializations include: addiction and recovery, anxiety and depression, existential crisis, trauma, grief and loss, relationship problems, work and career issues, medical and health concerns and family issues.

As Buddha wisely said, "It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victories are yours. It cannot be taken from you."

I am honored to a source of support and empowerment as you continue to become the master of your own domain and look forward to us working together.

Heather has helped provide me with the necessary tools for a better healthier version of me. She has helped me reflect on myself in a curious but kind matter. I have been able to grow as a person and develop coping skills that I didn't realize I would end up relying on so much in life. She is a very kind, thoughtful individual who has helped me process so much of myself. I WILL always highly recommend her and I honestly think that for as long as I would like to do therapy I would like to do it with her.

Thus far Heather has met and exceeded my expectations. Our appointments don't feel clinical - it feels like I'm talking to a knowledgeable and understanding peer. I look forward to our sessions and always feel better afterward.

Heather has been working with me through the most traumatic experience in my life. She has been supportive and approached my needs how I wanted. She listened to the struggles that I was going through and prioritized how I was feeling and what I was experiencing at that particular time first. Overtime we have worked together to delve into deeper rooted issues and I have come out stronger and better because of it. The relationship and trust Heather was able to foster between us is something I am very grateful for. I couldn’t have asked for a better first counseling experience

Has helped me understand what my issues are and why it is that I feel sad. Provides insight into my person and promotes the positive changes needed for me to develop as an individual while also acknowledging where I was before.

Heather is absolutely amazing! She has helped me through my anxiety and depression issues. Anyone who needs a therapist who can speak on the science and the spiritual aspects of the mind and body, she’s the person to talk to.
