I am a licensed social worker in the state of Washington with over 10 years of experience in a variety of office, community, and residential settings with adults, kids, teens, and families. I received my Masters of Social Work with a dual mental health and chemical dependency focus from the University of Washington in 2011 and have a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies (concentration in Social Sciences) from The Evergreen State College. I have additional educational and clinical hours in the treatment of substance use disorders and have practiced as a Substance Use Disorder Professional in WA.
I practice from a person-in-environment (or ecological) orientation. This means I am interested in all areas of my client’s life and how those domains interact with and provide context for the distress they are experiencing. As a clinician, I am client-centered and strengths-based. I believe the strongest indications of success in a therapeutic relationship are trust/rapport building and an unconditional positive regard for those who allow me into their lives, regardless of age.
I draw from an eclectic toolbox of evidence-based methodologies and interventions, including mindfulness-based approaches, cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure and response prevention, dialectical behavioral skills, relapse prevention, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and the expressive arts. I bring humor, creativity, and curiosity to all my sessions.
“Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror. Just keep going. No feeling is final.” ~Rainer Maria Rilke

she’s amazing, she understands me and gives me great advice and helps me through my issues ! :)
Heather is fantastic. I worked with her for a year and she was so helpful. I’m only changing because I moved out of state. If you need a great therapist, she should be your first choice.
Heather takes time in understanding the concerns you have to start on a constructive pathway towards mental betterment. If you tell her what you need, she is accommodating. She is upfront on things if she is unsure if she can help. Overall, I have not had her long, but I feel like she has made me understand myself a lot more than any other counselor I have had.
Great communication, very attentive and understanding from the very start
Amazing listener, creates a safe and warm space for you to work through your problems. Very accepting and socially aware.
I couldn’t possibly be more thankful for the care I have received from BetterHelp. Heather was able to break through the walls I have built and gave me tools that I will use for the rest of my life. She asked questions that I could only answer logically, which cut through the harmful rhetoric that sometimes plays on a constant loop in my head. I would suggest working with Heather to anyone, especially if you feel like counseling hasn’t “gotten through” to you in the past. She has a no nonsense way of marching in and helping you put together the pieces and come to your own conclusions.
Heather is a great therapist - she's supportive, insightful, and a great listener. During her sessions, I feel heard, understood & empowered, and I would definitely recommend her to my friends & family.
Heather is by far the best counselor I have ever worked with. No one has ever treated my problems with as much respect, grace, and thoughtfulness as she does. She really helps me to think through every issue down to its roots, but still meets me where I'm currently at for the solutions. She's also incredibly knowledgable, but will immediately admit when she needs to research more about a topic, which I really appreciate.
I've been working with Heather dfor a short time but like it so far.
Heather is the best therapist I’ve ever had, she has really tried to understand me and I appreciate her so much for helping me.
She listens and helps me thru my chaotic life
Heather is easy to talk to, very responsive and has been an excellent help to me. She has wonderful suggestions, worksheets and tactics to tackle any and all issues I have and is very LGBTQ friendly.
