Hello and welcome! I'm a Clinical Social Worker licensed in the state of Maryland. I graduated from the University of Maryland in 2014 and have practiced clinically in primary care clinics, community mental health and as a pro-bono provider. I also have been on the administrative side of mental health since 2006. I have a passion for working with people from various backgrounds and cultures.
My primary specialty is trauma and abuse work and I have extensive experience working with urban populations, refugees and immigrants. Trauma often arrives with 'cousins' though--such as grief and loss, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, self-esteem issues, interpersonal/relationship conflict and career challenges, so these are also issues I'm well-experienced in. Bipolar-disorder is another specialty area. Finally, I have worked quite a bit with the LGBTQIA population at a clinic specializing in HIV/AIDS, LGBTQIA and Trans medicine and I am comfortable and honored working in these areas as well.
My counseling approach will depend on you, your goals, and your comfort level; and will be evidence-based and solution oriented. I understand that it took a lot for you to even get to this page, so I will do my best to explain things thoroughly, answer any questions you may have, listen to you closely and respectfully, and give honest, compassionate feedback. I believe each person is the best expert on themselves, but sometimes when we share openly with the right person, it can help us see a situation in a totally different light and it can help us find the strength to shake off what is holding us back. As we get to know each other's personalities a bit, we will be able to work as partners to explore issues, identify challenges and plans effective steps towards your goals.
Thank you for visiting this page. Doing this work is an honor and a privilege and I look forward to working with you.
