I'm a clinical psychologist licensed in Ohio with seven years of experience providing psychotherapy for a wide range of concerns. My experience includes working with individuals who have concerns with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, histories of trauma, PTSD, and interpersonal difficulties.
I identify primarily with a cognitive behavioral approach, but incorporate skills from a variety of therapeutic orientations. Treatment can sometimes feel robotic, and I want to make sure that my clients are able to experience the opposite. People deserve a compassionate and caring therapist who meets them where they are. I believe that clients are the experts on their own experiences and I work to empower them so that they can create the changes they want to see in their lives.
Taking the first step or trying again with therapy is incredibly difficult. Choosing a therapist that will be the best for your needs can also be hard. I am happy to discuss your expectations and desires for treatment and help you navigate more easily through this time. I look forward to working with you!

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Heather Smith. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
I started with Heather a year ago. I quit therapy for a couple months and didn’t think twice about coming back into with Heather. She’s very personable.
Dr. Smith is amazing, and I highly recommend her and her services. She is professional and knowledgeable. She is compassionate and caring and truly meets you where you are. She made me feel very comfortable and safe in sharing my needs. Dr. Smith empowered me and helped me through each step of the way in treating my PTSD. I thought it was going to be an impossible feat, but thanks to Dr. Smith's support, it was possible!
Thank you, Dr. Smith, for everything you do! The impact you have had on my life is significant - thank you, thank you, thank you!
If you’re looking for a therapist that’s really good at listening to your problems and being able to help you focus on the core issue, Heather is the one for you. I can talk to her when I feel stressed and sad and don’t know what I need. She helps me to clarify my thoughts and find different ways to think about things. I always feel supported and stronger after we talk.
I really enjoy my sessions with Heather. She listens but also provides appropriate feedback, which is something that I haven't experienced with multiple other therapists prior to using BetterHelp.
Heather is amazing. I was resistant to counselling for a long time, and when I finally took the plunge, I was convinced no one would be the right fit. I was wrong. She's done an amazing job learning who I am as a person and describing things in a manner that really clicks with me. She's given me a variety of skills I can use in my day-to-day, whether it be in friendships, relationships or work. When I encourage my colleagues to see a therapist, I am 100% truthful when I say nothing in my life so far has given me so much insight. Therapy with Heather has significantly improved my life (and we're just getting started!).
Heather Smith is good for what she does, understanding the individuals personal situations, and giving the advice of what can help that individual to cope & resolve the personal situation
