About Me

Hello, I am so glad you are reaching out! My name is Heather and I am a board certified Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Oregon, currently practicing as a therapist in Portland. I am also certified in addictions counseling in Oregon. My education and professional background have given me a unique approach to counseling that is holistic, strength-based, and culturally thoughtful and inclusive. I have advanced experience working with adults and adolescents struggling with addiction, shame, and trauma. Although the reasons people seek counseling can seem similar, I have enormous respect for how issues uniquely impact people’s lives. As I work with clients, I offer education and guidance in using a variety of evidence-based therapies that are tailored to best match the uniqueness of the people I work with.

People come to counseling for a variety of reasons – relational struggles, sadness, grief, anxiety, life stressors, or perhaps just a general sense that something is wrong. These issues can begin to feel overwhelming on our own. At that same time, reaching out for help can feel vulnerable and frightening at first. I have immense admiration for people taking the first step in asking for help. My therapeutic approach is warm, person-centered, and honest. I strive to build a non-judgmental, trusting relationship with my clients where we can explore what is causing discomfort and move towards growth and healing. I believe every person has wisdom and expertise that is intuitive; I aim to help people rediscover their selves so they can reach their dreams and live rich and meaningful lives.

I've been contemplating getting counseling for my anxiety and depression for quite sometime now. Mainly because sometimes you have to try different counselors till you find the right one. Well Heather is just AMAZINGGGG ! from the moment we started chatting i just felt so comfortable opening up to her. She is such a great listener, compassionate, kind and super friendly! all the things i need to feel comfortable. She always has great tips and materials to help me work through something i am struggling with. Every time we have a live session i feel like its not enough time and look forward to our next session. Thanks Heather!

Heather is kind, listens closely, and makes me feel safe to open up. She gently guides me through tough topics and it has helped me work through many issues, and approach difficult things in new ways. I appreciate working with her!

Heather's been great, would even consider doing in-person sessions with her, if that's something she does. It's nice to talk about some of my inner dialog that I think about but never say to anyone (since I don't really have any good friends). Also she's helped, by just listening, and I feel that she actually is listening, and she has provided some insight that has lead to some positive things. With me, I think a ton, and have a ton of dialog internally, and sometimes I just need fresh perspectives or thoughts, that can help guide my own brain into a new realization about my existence. And I can think she's done that at least twice in the short time we've been talking.
