Hello and welcome to my page! My name is Heather, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oklahoma. I want to take a moment and acknowledge you for being here. It is not always easy to reach out for support when we need it. However, when done well, I am a firm believer that therapy allows us to feel heard and empowered to make the changes necessary for us to overcome our barriers. As a clinician, I believe that my role is to provide guidance and direction and to bear witness to your journey.
I began my journey in 2015 and have had the pleasure of gaining experience working with adults, adolescents, and children in outpatient settings, substance abuse treatment, inpatient settings, communities/homes, and college settings. Some of the barriers that those individuals were experiencing involved substance abuse, depression, anxiety, attachment issues, PTSD, family/relationship conflicts, life transitions, severe mental illness, and abuse.
My therapeutic style is an integrated approach; this also allows me to be more flexible in my style and to be the therapist that YOU need me to be. No matter how similar their stories may be, no two individuals are ever the same, which is why I pull from different theories. My style means that I can meet you where you are and support you while you identify where you want to go and tailor our interaction to what you need. If you need to just be heard, I can listen to you, and I can be that. If you need tools that you can begin to use immediately, I can provide you with those. If you are interested in change, I can support and assist you in this. I will be there to guide you, offer you direction, possibly even challenge you, and I will be there to bear witness to your journey.
I am also the founder and writer for courageousandmindful.com, a mental health blog where I write about mental health.
Thank you, and I look forward to working with you!

Heather is a very wonderful and kind person; I'm glad that she was my therapist for the time I spent using Better Help. She helped me transition through a very new point in my life and adjust to the changes that came with it. She is attentive and respectful while also maintaining a friendly air to herself that makes her so comfortable to talk to. She is empathetic, understanding, and always willing to give me advice on how to approach something that frightened me - no matter how minor it would have seemed to others. She took me seriously when I felt that others wouldn't and for that I am and always will be eternally grateful.

The first time I was able to open about my traumas and relationship issues and learned so much about myself. Heather is very kind and attentive and helps you reframe things in a way that helps you to be kinder to yourself. A very positive therapy experience from Heather which is often difficult to find.

First time a counselor has been able to crack into my past and traumas from the past and link them back to current behaviors and issues. I Enjoy her perspective on mental health struggles

Heather is a compassionate, practical and knowledgeable therapist. She has a great ability to understand the situation, devise a plan for treatment and follow it thoroughly. Her kind and empathetic nature allows her to see through the words in order to identify the root cause of the underlying challenge. Besides, Heather is also a good critical thinker and that allows her to think quickly on her feet and makes her approach very flexible and tailored to what you need at every given point. Heather is also a great listener and you’ll always leave the session feeling better and wanting to implement changes into your life. She never tells you how to do something, she never forces you to think in a certain way and never judges you, instead she will ask the right questions and will help you see things from a unique, fresh and different perspective which is something that proved to be very effective with me. She is very good at keeping you accountable to your commitments, but without adding unnecessary pressure. She is always a message away, which will make you feel safe and supported throughout.

I have worked with Heather for a few weeks and right from the start she has respected my needs in regards as my first wish was to just have a platform to talk and not always be fed solutions! Her advice feed back and tit bits have been helpful and insightful. Something that has sat well with myself is that there is no pressure to move conversation in any direction other than where I choose to lead it.
I would certainly recommend heather to a friend or someone looking for a relaxed environment to discuss life.
