About Me

I was forced to enter the basement of my soul
and look directly at what was hidden there,
and to choose, in the face of it all, not death but life.
-Henri Nouwen

I am a client centered therapist extensively trained in the areas of trauma, grief, and eating disorders. I also work with executives and individuals in the work force who need coaching on stress management and career development. Within the scope of my expertise, I have had the pleasure and honor to help people of all cultures, races, sexualities, and religions “HEAL”; be it in individual therapy, family therapy, or couples therapy. My therapeutic approach is to provide support, nurturing, and practical feedback to help patients effectively address personal life challenges and facilitate the healing process to "move on" in one's life. I integrate complimentary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each patient. I provide an effective and healthy outlet for an individual to address issues which are preventing them from adaptively coping in their world. I foster an atmosphere in which an individual's mind, body, and soul can heal allowing the individual to reach resolution on issues that are interfering with feeling "whole and connected" in the world around them. With compassion and a nonjudgmental atmosphere I work with each individual to help one heal the underlying wounds that keep getting in the way of living one's life to the fullest.

With over 25 years experience as a therapist, I have extensive knowledge in working with teens/adults, first responders, and military with PTSD/complex traumas, grief, and eating disorder issues. Other areas of specialty include: LGBTQ, couples therapy, women’s issues, sexual/physical abuse & medical/health issues (cancers,infertility,etc.). I use a variety of approaches such as DBT, CBT, IFS, EMDR, and client centered therapy.

I am designated a certified trauma treatment specialist, board certified expert in traumatic stress, board certified professional counselor, and a licensed mental health counselor. I hold the status of diplomate for both The American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and The National Center for Crisis Management. I specialize and am certified in the state of the art therapy called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in the treatment of children, adolescents, and adults to facilitate the healing process. I also use an integrated approach including psychodynamic therapy, internal family systems therapy, cognitive processing therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and client centered therapy to personalize the process for each patient.

Heidi immediately locked on to what my core issues were and within a session or two she’d completely changed my thinking about my traumas. She’s been an excellent help on my mental health journey!

I've been through initial meetings with several counselors and never felt that we truly connected. With Heidi, however, it was totally different. You can instantly tell that she's quick-witted, experienced, and highly observant. She was able to cut to the core of my issues very quickly and notice things that others have not. Even so, she was immensely warm, encouraging, and compassionate. I especially loved how she would check in with me and invite me to book live sessions with her. She specializes, in particular, in helping people cope with traumatic experiences. I would highly, highly recommend her as a counselor!

Heidi was an absolute god send at a time of massive upheaval and distress for me. Heidi quickly ascertained the issues and helped me work through them in a way that gave me the perspective I needed to deal with what was going on and I'm incredibly grateful and thankful that she was there when(ever) I needed to talk. Thank you Heidi, I couldn't recommend you highly ebough!
