Hello, my name is Helen Ward. I have a Master in Social Work degree from Walla Walla University. I graduated in 2000 and have been practicing in the field of social work ever since. I have been blessed with the opportunity to work in many different areas within the field of social work. They include community, healthcare, advocacy, mental health, military and veterans, and hospice and palliative care. I have worked primarily with adults 18 years and older. Currently, I am working with the veteran population and their spouses providing individual and group therapy. Also, I have worked with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, sexual, physical and emotional abuse, domestic violence, PTSD, and substance abuse issues.
I think of my treatment approach as integrative because I prefer combining several different, but complimentary treatment models. Working in the field of social work for 20 years, I have established many meaningful relationships with individuals from varying backgrounds. My style is open, honest, non-judgmental, and trustworthy. In working with individuals in counseling services, I am extremely aware of my own biases and the recognition of the courage it takes to ask for help. I consider it to be an honor to walk with someone along side their journey.
I look forward to working with you. If you are ready to take the first step, I am here to support and empower you through the process. My other professional website is helenwardlicsw.com

Helen is amazing! She digs deep and gives real world practical advice.
So far so great! We've only had one session so far but am looking forward to working with her more over the coming weeks. Thanks!
Helen listens to everything and is very thorough in trying to understand your situation, your needs, and how to approach them. She is very easy to talk to.
I love having someone at the other end of my screen. Having a counselor I can reach out to 24/7 has made coping soo much easier. Not only have I shared my experience with my friends and family, but I've also shared the app in several groups and pages on Facebook.
Helen Ward is a very effective counselor with excellent communication skills. I felt comfortable early on as I quickly developed a strong trust. I feel she focuses on what I am saying. She is nonjudgmental and accepting and able to start where I am. And I am often lost in tangents of avoidance. She then helps me navigate my difficult and stressful times showing empathy as though she is standing in my shoes. I do feel understood and heard.
She doesn’t try to solve my problems but keeps me on track toward the solution that I am sure she already knows. She has excellent problem-solving skills to help me to cognitively identify and make changes to my negative thought patterns and other harmful behaviors. She seems flexible in counseling by adapting and changing the way she responds to meet my needs when I need a different approach.
She has the self-awareness to look within me and identify my needs for intimacy and my desire to be professionally competent.
And, she seems aware of people from all walks of life. She displays the ability to work with and respect my lifestyle by relating to me and understanding me regardless of whatever my multicultural background is.
My experience of having Helen as a therapist is akin to the experience of making a puzzle with someone who loves puzzles. I took the puzzle of my life and my family dynamics and the loss of my sister and laid them all out on the table. Helen gently sat with me and listened to the pieces turning them over to look at, and she gave me strategies about where to start and how to identify pieces within a whole picture. She gave me insight and support that I deeply needed. Consistent and bit my bit I was able to put some more pieces together. Encouraging, engaging, and simply helpful, I have been thankful for her affirmation and validation as I have had to navigate deep grief and complicated emotions around family, death, and my place in all of it. Thank you Helen for your experience, professionalism, and work you do.

Helen Ward is very down to earth and real. Talking with her is very easy and I feel like she really has my best interest in mind, even if it’s not exactly what I want to hear. She helps me see things from a different perspective and gain new insights about myself so I can work on getting well.
