Hope McDonald
About me
I am a clinical social worker with over 20 years experience working with adolescents, adults and families. I have worked with individuals with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD from physical, sexual and emotional abuse, in addition to relationship, parenting and substance abuse issues. I have worked in a psychiatric inpatient setting, outpatient treatment centers, residential treatment facilities, a therapeutic day school, a public middle and high school and in private practice.
Although I have many tools in my toolbox, I approach issues from a predominantly cognitive behavioral lens, with a good understanding of how trauma and family histories impact development and coping skills. I am a strong proponent of learning how to care for yourself physically and mentally, and can teach you how to build an effective tools of your own.
Reaching out for help is the first step to healing and growth. I look forward to getting to know you and working together towards that end.

Hope is a wonderful therapist who really listens and is able to empathize with her client's point of view. She has offered me many tools to reframe thoughts that don't serve me. I always look forward to our sessions, and I appreciate that I can check in with a written message and get a response in between live sessions.
