About me

I am a Person-Centred Counsellor providing a safe, down to earth, and welcoming place to talk about the concerns you have.

I feel strongly that everyone should be able to talk about their wellbeing in safe, comfortable space. it’s important to be able to talk to someone about what is bothering you.

I have a general interest in psychology and Buddhism, mindfulness and spiritual approaches to living which I bring to my practice. I also reflect on how we often, when we see it, have more choice and power then we imagine. This can be liberating to realise.

I have experience in mental health services as well as therapy.

I work by allowing you to set the agenda and decide what is important, on Betterhelp it tends to be booked month to month. In order to help with this I will always set a 4 week review so you can decide if what we have worked on has been dealt with, you need more sessions, someone else or wish to book more sessions. This gives a sense of something we are aiming toward I find.

What I love about Ian’s approach is that I don’t feel judged by him and I feel safe to share everything that is on my mind! He is a genuinely caring person and I feel that in our sessions. He really listens and his advice is usually encompassed in an analogy or story, which ALWAYS hits home! I feel heard by him and he is truly helping me through a very difficult time of grieving. I can wholeheartedly recommend Ian!

Ian is a great therapist, especially if you’re looking for someone who is empathetic, honest and very knowledgeable in his field. He helped me gain a better understanding of the things I was dealing with and provided me with new perspectives. Would highly recommend Ian if you’re looking to do a deep dive into your own psyche (with the added benefit of a little humour at the appropriate times). Thanks Ian!

I am a fan of indirect approach. I appreciate the well phased recommendations and on the money advice.
