Hello! I am a clinical social worker specializing in trauma focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy and supportive psychotherapy. I have extensive experience in assisting individuals struggling with chronic mental health illnesses, such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder. I also have extensive experience in assisting individuals who have experienced sexual trauma or who do struggle with inappropriate sexual behaviors. I have worked in both intensive treatment environments as well as community based centers to provide these and other services. I am skilled at creating an open and safe space for you process thoughts and feelings about anything ranging from traumatic or adverse life experiences to daily challenges and changes you may face. Although my experience in working with LGBTQ individuals is limited, I am open to working with these individuals as well.
My main goal in working with you is to provide support and insight in coping with your challenges. I also allow you to process your thoughts to seek solutions and gain perspective when and if needed. In doing so I also use mindfulness techniques for you to gain more awareness of how you feel and cognitive behavioral therapy to identify how your thoughts can motivate or change your behaviors.

Ilani is a good listener, even over live chat. She pauses what she's typing when I start to type more. Although I don't think I express myself well all the time, she always seems to get what I'm saying. She seems to know what to say and offers good advice. She is willing to let our talks go wherever I take them and does not try to get me 'on task'. She also helped me establish goals very easily. She's friendly and easy to talk to.
I’d struggled finding the right therapist for a few months and had honestly gotten frustrated. After my first call with Ilani I knew I’d found a good one. She listens well and then guides you through practical methods for dealing with your issues-which for me was really bad anxiety and a constant state of being overwhelmed. In our few sessions I’ve felt like she understands me and respects me in a comfortable space.
Her approach is directional in order to help me get on track to feeling better. I will continue schedule appointments and will be utilizing the video sessions.

I can definitely say that she is nice to talk to and makes me feel like I can say anything to her and won't feel judged or like I'm being looked down on. I feel like we connect well and it just feels right when I talk with Ilani. I really appreciate the Ms. Ighedosa takes time to listen to me and then offer constructive feedback and/or advice. I feel like I am talking to a friend that was educated in counseling. I know that if I come to her with multiple issues in one session, she will hear my primary concern even if I can't relay it clearly. Right at the start, Ilani started asking all the right questions to get at the problems I was bringing up. It's been hard to find the right counselor that actually wanted to help me work through the issues I brought up instead of having a conversation or even talking about themselves for a while.
