About Me

Welcome! I am the hopeful therapist. I’ve helped hundreds of people work through problems related to family, difficult childhood history, relationships, and adjustment to life changes and stressors. I’m more optimistic now than when I first started as a counselor over a decade ago because I’ve seen that the techniques I use have helped people achieve their goals and feel better about themselves, about life, and their relationships.

My counseling persona is warm and empathetic. I believe in giving unconditional positive regard – accepting my clients for who they are and where they are in life - and earning their trust so that they’d be able to work with me in figuring out the things that act as barriers to their goals.

In 2004 I graduated from New York University’s School of Social Work which is widely respected as an excellent training ground for social workers who want to specialize in counseling. I worked for a non-profit mental health center from 2005 to 2016. I started as a therapist then after 3 years I became a supervisor to other counselors, and finally the program director for five years before I decided to go back to what I love doing. Aside from talk therapy to help you gain insight on your concerns, I also use cognitive behavior therapy, creative techniques, and helping you reduce stressors through skills that help you train your body and brain to be more calm and relaxed. I empower clients to have more control over what’s going on in their minds and bodies.

Working directly with people and helping them through their healing journeys is what brought me into the field, and nothing else makes me feel joyful and passionate as being a guide to people who want to be proactive in changing their lives for the better.

If you are looking for a counselor who believes in sharing power instead of telling you what to do or how to think, you’ve found the right person.

If you’re ready to pull up your sleeves and work with someone who will encourage you, support you, listen to you, guide you, and help you make sense of why things are going the way they are in your life, I would love to work with you.

I've had many therapists but Ireen truly knows what she is doing. Just in a few sessions she has really helped me to feel better and learn about myself. Her approach is warm, kind, and non-judgmental. I would recommend Ireen to anyone who seeks therapy.

In such a short amount of time I already felt a connection. I feel completely comfortable speaking to her and actually feel she’s genuine and help me better myself. I truly love how she takes the time to break everything down for me to understand how to collect my thoughts and find better tactics to situations I struggle with. She’s AMAZING!
