Isabelle Corak-Bywater, NCPS, BACP
About me
I am a licensed therapist in the UK with 4 years of professional work experience.
I use a person-centered approach because it fits very well with my own philosophy for life. This approach is based on the belief that we are all individual experts on our true selves. It follows that each of us has the ability to live our life to our full potential.
In a sincere, trusting, and non-judgmental therapeutic partnership, we can apply our own strength and imagination to overcome obstacles.
As a person-centered counsellor, my aim is to provide a compassionate and confidential environment, to help you unlock your capacity and inner resourcefulness.
I value authenticity highly, and the quality of the relationship between therapist and client is widely regarded as the most important factor in facilitating effective therapy. The initial session gives you an opportunity to evaluate whether you feel a connection and whether an “honest” rapport can develop between us. In the spirit of Carl Rogers, I ask myself “How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for her/his/their own personal growth?”
It is with this concord that we can have a broad and deep discussion about what works well for you in your life and what does not.
I have experience in supporting clients with relationship issues, trauma, abuse, & coping with grief and loss. I also have experience working with self-harm, depression, low self-esteem, and relationship issues. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.

I couldn‘t be happier with Isabelle. She was the first therapist that was recommend to me and it was an absolute match from the beginning. I feel heard, seen and respected at all times. Her questions and perspectives helped me to get new insights and a better understanding of myself and the challenges in my life. She creates such a safe place where I always feel like I can express myself without the fear of being judged. Every session is a huge gain and I couldn‘t recommend her enough!

My mental health has been such a burden for a long time, so it is a genuine relief to work with Isabelle. She has the ability to empathize and guide me through many toxic and troubling thought processes that I have been unable to surmount alone. I am really grateful.
