About me

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to stop by my profile page. My name is Ivette Diaz and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. I am passionate about providing support, empathy and a safe place for patients to talk about the different life events and relationships that may be contributing to their various stressors. Growing up, I experienced some of my own trauma and mental health issues and found that the times I had emotional support, I was able to overcome some very difficult challenges and gain a sense of new hope that I did not have before. I hope that you will allow me to be that for you and I hope you find in me someone that is compassionate and able to walk alongside with you in some of the most difficult challenges you may be facing. Many of my patients have found that I am easy to talk to, kind, provide a safe and positive environment for them while also creating a structured environment where clients learn some interventions that will help decrease their symptoms and improve their relationships.

In regards to my educational background, I obtained my Bachelor's in Psychology in 2009 from Vanguard University of Southern California, in the beautiful city of Costa Mesa. I then completed my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University in Riverside. Most of my experience is providing community based counseling services for children, teens and young adults in low income communities. For my MFT Associate years, I spent my time working for different community agencies in the cities of San Bernardino, Lancaster/Palmdale and now in Bakersfield, CA. Over the years, I have also developed more experience working in private practice where I have worked with people of all backgrounds, ages and cultures with different mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, life transitions, and/or relationship issues. I typically use a client centered approach in therapy and utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, attachment based therapy interventions and trauma informed care approach depending on each individual client's needs. Overall, I care about YOU and helping you meet your own treatment goals.

I look forward to working with you!

As someone that was terrified to try therapy or counseling.I can honestly say that it’s not and that Ivette has made it very easy to understand and I thank her for that.
