About Me

I am a licensed professional counselor in the states of Colorado and Oklahoma with over 5 years of experience working in mental health, first as a case manager and now as a therapist. I have a master of arts in professional counseling with a certificate in expressive arts therapy and palliative care/grief and loss. I have experience working in community mental health settings, residential inpatient settings, and now in private practice. I have partnered with individuals ranging in age from 3 to those well into their 70s, as well as with couples and families. I have partnered with clients who have struggled with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, grief and loss, ADHD, domestic abuse, and those with autism spectrum disorder.

My counseling style is empathetic, interactive, and person centered. I believe that one style of counseling will not work for every person, so my goal is to hear your story, learn about you, and find the best therapeutic approach that will provide the greatest impact on your life. I believe in treating everyone with unconditional positive regard and meeting my clients where they are in life to partner with them and move them in the direction they want to go. My approach combines solutions focused brief therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, humanistic, and existential counseling to tailor treatment plans and therapy sessions to meet your personal style and needs. I also incorporate art therapy and mindfulness practices when they are a good fit for my clients.

I understand the unnerving feelings of risk and the courage that it takes to reach out in times of struggle, as I have been there in my life as well. I have personally experienced the struggle and gift that counseling provides and am looking forward to sharing that gift with you, to move you to a place in life where you want to be.

I look forward to joining with you, for how ever long a time, and partnering together for a better future.

Jacob listens to me and has a way of making me understand solutions from a different perspective. It’s hard work to become a better person, but he’s there every step of the way.

I very much like that Jacob checks in with me when I haven't written to him in a while. I haven't been working with him long but he seems very kind and professional!

He’s super understanding and thoughtful, no matter what I bring to the table.

Jacob has been nothing but kind and helpful. He has been so understanding of where I am emotionally and mentally and has been probably the best counselor I have had the opportunity of working with.
