About Me
I've spent most of my adult life, before and after earning my degree in clinical social work, exploring the effects of shame based learning on the psyche. As a culture here in the United States, our reliance on competition leads to anxiety and, all too often, internalized shame. There is nothing I know of more lethal to person's happiness than the belief that something is wrong with them. Though they mostly loved us, too many adults in our lives used shame as a teaching tool, in an effort to have us lead the rest of the pack. No blame in this game, they did their best. The resulting historical levels of anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and emotional dis-ease sends us to our deaths much earlier than in other, older societies throughout the world.
My Psychodynamic foundation; use of use of multiple theoretical approaches with an emphasis on Unconditional Positive Regard; growing interest in spirituality as a complementing intervention, and genuine passion to help you find your true value makes me be excited about learning about how you see things. Will you allow me to show you how to enjoy the empowerment you feel by throwing off all the old stories and discovering your true self? There is only one of you in the entire universe. This makes you worthy of mental health, and so much more.
Note: I will not treat someone without first doing a visual wellness check. If you want phone sessions only, I am not your counselor. I will need 3 video sessions before moving to phone sessions only, or messaging. I hope you understand. Cancellations with less than 24 hours to your appointment, and no shows threaten my health insurance, so please be ready to show up for yourself.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jacqueline Johnson. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
She has such a kind and beautiful soul and has really helped me grow these past several months. She helped me process a narcissistic relationship and get to a place where I was open to loving and trusting others, and more importantly myself, again. I have grown in my self love, self acceptance and self compassion. She is an incredible therapist, truly one in a million. As I continue to navigate the early stages of my career and new friendships and relationships, I know I can trust that the skills she has helped me build will help me be more resilient and better prepared for the ups and downs of life, love, change, and growth. She is inspiring and has had a profoundly positive impact on my life in just a few months.
Love working with Jackie! She is such a patient, insightful and kind soul. The only challenge is getting on her schedule because she is so in demand.
Very helpful and inciteful
Ms Johnson only had every other week and that is not meeting my needs to begin with
Ms Johnson is very welcoming and possess the thing I feel of saying the right thing at the right time lol. I feel she understand everything I say and it’s kinda foreign to me because I’m so used to being misunderstood but she gets it I feel. She a blessing
I appreciate Jacqueline’s approach to each of our sessions. I’m learning new ways to be patient with myself and question my thoughts vs. reality. It’s taking time but is all worth it. Show up for yourself!
Jackie is the sounding board, the voice of reason, and the hard truth I needed. I’m so grateful to her for her support, guidance and compassion. She helped me grow in ways I was struggling to do on my own. She heard the depths of my story and held my hand while I found a path that worked for me. I appreciated how we expanded and developed our conversations. No matter what was top of mind for me, Jackie was willing to listen and provide suggestions to help me both sit with my own emotions and then find a way forward. Thank you, Jackie. You are a wonderful person and I appreciate you.
Excellent! Great insight and very professional
Jacqueline has helped me see and realize many things on my journey to heal from a lot of trauma. She uses methods that incorporate eastern philosophies and as an Asian American, I truly appreciate. She is very responsive to messages and knows when to push and when to help me process difficult topics.
Jacqueline is very insightful and compassionate.
I am so glad I was matched with Jaqueline and worked with her. Her kindness and honesty was something that really helped me in finding my confidence and root of where my anxiety built upon. She was direct but gentle in her approach and I often refer back to her words and resources when I'm processing and working through things. She is a wonderful to work with and I am very grateful to have had her help, I am happier and more secure because of it.
Jacqueline is the 10th therapist I've met with and she is the perfect fit for me. I learned so much from her about myself and how to move forward with my life, a single step at a time. I feel like I'm moving forward in a way I never have before, and I am so grateful to her for helping me though this.
Would recommend to every friend I have. If you are missing some piece, she helped me find it. Unlocked my coping strategies.
I’ve been with Jacqueline for about a month. My first session was life changing. That quick she was able to make sense of my life and ways for me to overcome obstacles. I’m grateful! She definitely is amazing
Jacqueline is a great support, and I appreciate that she’s real and gives me a philosophical approach. She gives a lot of good resources- therefore, many ways to hear the things you need to hear. She has such a good heart and is easy to talk to.
Jacqueline's therapy style is above and beyond. Not only does she listen and hold space for your feelings, but she provides great supportive tools and references to aid in your growth. After my father passed away I needed some serious healing guidance and she really delivered for me, along with some compassionate direction for a difficult work situation. I always feel so good after talking to her and have a plethora of advice to take into my long term healing journey. She is also just a pleasure to chat with and a real friend. Couldn't recommend enough!
I appreciate the resources sent before our session. Thanks!
I was lucky to be connected with Jacqueline. I was emotionally, physically, and mentally exhausted and needed to talk to someone that I could not share with family and friends. I felt alone. However Jacqueline was there to provide the support I needed. From listening to providing insightful resources that guided me through my emotions and experiences, while also encouraging and challenging me along the way. I know when I needed help or a counselor for support I can reach out to Jacqueline for support. I took a leap of faith in asking for help and glad the person was Jacqueline.
We are very fortunate to be paired with Jacqueline. I was nervous about our first meeting and it can be challenging to find the right person to work with, but I was immediately put at ease after meeting her. She went above and beyond by providing resources prior to the meeting and the way the she guided the meeting, you can tell she had prepared. Talking to Jacqueline was like talking to a wise friend with helpful insight. We look forward to our future meetings.
Jacqueline has helped me significantly even in the one week that I’ve been working with her. I’ve been able to take back my power in several areas of life. I love how she addresses the issues head-on and does not waste time. I feel very lucky to have found her. She’s responsive, supportive, wise and very experienced.
The absolute best. Jacqueline is so real and I am so glad I found her and BetterHelp when I did. She has been a great listener, provided honest feedback and advice, and has truly been the greatest boost and support at a time when I needed it most. Highly recommend and would definitely come back to her if I ever felt I needed it in the future. Grateful doesn’t even cover it.
A wonderful human and therapist. Very grateful for her wisdom, kindness and straightforward care. I would recommend her to anyone.
Jacqueline Johnson is so impressive to me because she comes to the table with vast knowledge and also has a personable side to her so you relate to her. She sends information and homework to be done and that's a good thing! And she touches base with you frequently. I'm very excited about continuing to work with her! I am hoping that working with her will help me to bring the change to my life that I so desperately want!
Excellent counselor— open minded, kind, supportive, and also holds you accountable.
She has my back and best interests at heart. I am growing so much thanks to her and am start to see myself in a more positive light.
