Jada April-Brown

(MSW, LCSW, LISW-CP)

About Me

My name is Jada April-Brown. I have my Master’s Degree in Social Work and am licensed in several states to offer individual based counseling. Originally from Chicago, I attended Governors State University in which I obtained my BSW and MSW. I have been a resident of South Carolina almost 4 years now. Within my professional career, I have worked in many settings, including inpatient, outpatient, hospitals, corrections, community based, residential based, and transitional housing. In both my personal and professional career, I have been told and also have provided workshops on being empathetic, understanding, a better communicator, and positive self-reflection.
I have experience working with all populations, children to older adults. My specialties and approaches include trauma informed care, strength based, solution-focused, and motivational interviewing with a focus on harm reduction. As a therapist, these approaches allow me an opportunity for “us” to “work together” in a solution focused relationship. I am dedicated to helping others find positive solutions to their problems and identifying and utilizing the strengths and skills sets already instilled within you. I am committed to helping my clients improve various aspects of their lives to live their best life yet. I believe that with the right support, anyone can overcome their problems and negative experiences.
As a human being, we all face some type of roadblock. And sometimes, we need a little help with steering to get us to a place to pursue our goals. Sometimes, we need that someone to help us see our strengths and abilities. That will be our relationship. We will work together in developing your goals that are manageable, attainable, and realistic and “get to work.” I know with us working “together” we will be able to create personal growth in which your successes will be identified by you, the most important person in this partnership. We may have challenges, but I know with commitment from us both, we'll overcome them as well.
You have taken the first step- asking for help. That was courageous on your part and shows you are ready to make a commitment. I am here to help you through this journey. I am passionate in what I do. I will provide to you a safe place to talk. I look forward to our journey together. You set the pace and I am here.

Jada truly cares about what she does and about helping people. I have made so much progress with my personal issues. I feel that I am not only talking to a therapist every week, but also feels like I am talking to a friend. She is truly a wonderful and kind person.

Jada has been incredible in the short while we’ve been working together. She opened up my eyes to concerns I was on the fence about, and helped me get through some major issues and moving forward.

Jada has been a big support to me in the last weeks, especially in 2020. I look forward to our video calls, and I am able to see my growth in the two months that I have had sessions with her. I am very glad that I was matched with her, and I’m grateful for the Better Help service ☺️

Jada is great to work with. She is not a 'sit back and tell me about your day' kind of therapist. Jada listens well and is a great laugher. Once she developed an understanding of my struggles, she framed it to help me understanding it, then developed a plan for working through it. She pushes me to be accountable for the work I say I'll do. When it got too fast or we hit a difficult section for me, we talked about it and we adjusted our approach. We spent adequate time in discussion to get to know me, now is very focused on the work--I love working with Jada!

After the first month, I can truly see a difference in myself and know I could not possibly do this alone if it was not for Jada and her kindness and compassion. She is absolutely awesome and the reason why I will be continuing with these sessions. I really cannot thank her enough for what she has done this far!

I’m so happy that I was matched with Jada. She was so easy to talk to from the start. She’ll put you to work, so if you’re ready for positive changes, watch out because she’ll help you make it happen. She helped me so much in just one month. I instantly felt comfortable with her. She was understanding and caring and non judgmental. I really liked how she focused on the now situations instead of the past. I found that very helpful. I would highly recommend her services to anyone that is ready to work to be a better person.

I love that I was matched with Jada. Anyone would be lucky to have such an understanding and genuine therapist. She is committed to helping her clients on whatever topics you ask for. She is very experienced and knowledgeable. With her, I’ve been able to change the way I think about myself and build the confidence I’ve missed for years. This is just after a few weeks! I’m honored to continue working with her.
