About me

My name is Jada April-Brown. I have my Master’s Degree in Social Work and am licensed in several states to offer individual based counseling. Originally from Chicago, I attended Governors State University in which I obtained my BSW and MSW. I have been a resident of South Carolina almost 4 years now. Within my professional career, I have worked in many settings, including inpatient, outpatient, hospitals, corrections, community based, residential based, and transitional housing. In both my personal and professional career, I have been told and also have provided workshops on being empathetic, understanding, a better communicator, and positive self-reflection.
I have experience working with all populations, children to older adults. My specialties and approaches include trauma informed care, strength based, solution-focused, and motivational interviewing with a focus on harm reduction. As a therapist, these approaches allow me an opportunity for “us” to “work together” in a solution focused relationship. I am dedicated to helping others find positive solutions to their problems and identifying and utilizing the strengths and skills sets already instilled within you. I am committed to helping my clients improve various aspects of their lives to live their best life yet. I believe that with the right support, anyone can overcome their problems and negative experiences.
As a human being, we all face some type of roadblock. And sometimes, we need a little help with steering to get us to a place to pursue our goals. Sometimes, we need that someone to help us see our strengths and abilities. That will be our relationship. We will work together in developing your goals that are manageable, attainable, and realistic and “get to work.” I know with us working “together” we will be able to create personal growth in which your successes will be identified by you, the most important person in this partnership. We may have challenges, but I know with commitment from us both, we'll overcome them as well.
You have taken the first step- asking for help. That was courageous on your part and shows you are ready to make a commitment. I am here to help you through this journey. I am passionate in what I do. I will provide to you a safe place to talk. I look forward to our journey together. You set the pace and I am here.

She is very caring and she listens carefully. I feel the first thing she is interested about is helping me. She is very insightful and always there for me as a client. Very professional with a fantastic sense of humor.

There would be no way to adequately describe for the help Jada has provided me in just a short time. She is so knowledgeable and experienced, I trust her implicitly. She shows so much compassion and has a way of being both casual and professional simultaneously. She is giving me the tools I need to live a happier and fuller life. How do you thank someone for replacing despair with hope? Anyone lucky enough to have Jada as a therapist will be in a much better place as a result of her assistance.

This therapist is flexible. I function best with solid actions to perform and she always has options. I get something out of everything she asks me to do even if it is not what I expected. I am so less anxious these days, Not always okay but it is easier to change the tail chasing thoughts that exacerbate my harmful habit.

Jada is the best therapist I’ve ever had. She had given me so many tools to help my anxiety and reach my goals. She’s reassuring but challenges me in such a way I feel like I’m talking to a close friend.

Ms Jada is a funny and caring therapist and has shared many different ressources to read and work through. She's adapted well to changes in my main concerns and always has an insight or story to share. I enjoy our sessions!
