Hello! My name is Jakob Engel. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland with 6 years of experience providing psychotherapeutic services in clinics, homes, schools, and online via tele-therapy. I have experience working with clients of all ages and a wide variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting issues, relationship issues, ADHD, and adjustment struggles. I believe in providing holistic care for people both by offering sessions for individual and families.
I attended Purdue University where I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, as well as earning minors in religion, philosophy, and sociology. I attended the University of Baltimore to earn my Master’s in Applied Science graduating in 2015. While at Purdue, I earned All-American honors competing in Track and Field. Both my experiences in school and athletics have helped to give me a well-rounded approach in caring for my clients.
I believe in using a strengths-based perspective to help you reach your goals. My style is interactive, accepting, and focuses on empowerment of the individual. I pull from Cognitive Behavioral therapy, psychodynamic approaches, and existential views to address past problems, current barriers, and goals for the future. In my private practice, I strive daily to meet my clients where they are at emotionally, mentally, behaviorally, and spiritually to provide the best quality care.
