About me

You have come to the right place! My Name is James Birks (pronouns: he, him) I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California. I am a Southern California native and completed my Bachelors of Psychology at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and my Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Southern California (USC). I completed my extensive clinical training at the Los Angeles LGBT Center and several other community based organizations. I have experience working with individuals, couples and families regarding depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship/marriage dynamics and career concerns.

Taking the first step to get help can be hard which is why I make it my mission to create a non-judgmental and supportive environment and focus on building a caring and empathetic relationships with each one of my clients. I will encourage you to be honest and vulnerable so that you may move toward being your most authentic self. Together we will create a unique and individual plan that will address your specific goals as well as building your knowledge and skills to provide conflict resolution and symptom relief.
