About Me

I work from a strengths-based and person-centered perspective, and believe strongly in the power of genuineness. When building positive relationships with clients; I believe that much of the progress can take place from this humanist approach. I work from an eclectic framework of solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness based therapies. Each person and their needs are unique, which is why I believe it is important to bring a varied therapeutic approach.
I am a husband and father of four children, and I have a good amount experience with my own children on techniques that have worked for me and what I know to be challenging as a parent. I believe that many of our relationships in the family dynamic can be traced to the structures, roles, and quality of communication that we have with those most important in our lives. However, sometimes that is hard to see from the inside and it can be very helpful to have someone not already in the family system examine it to help show where these improvements could be made. This is true in my work with individuals, couples, and families.
I have been a clinical therapist for the past five years, and a social worker for more than ten. Most of my career has been spent working with children, teens, and families going through difficulty that has stemmed from internal and external trauma, a breakdown in the family dynamic, and mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, and oppositional-defiant disorder among others. I have worked in an inpatient setting for several years, as well as home-based conducting therapy with children as young as seven and adults all the way to 70.
I know that reaching out for help can be a little scary, but I promise to work with you to help you find places of strength you may not have known you had. I wish you the best health and success in your therapeutic journey.
