About Me

“In my early professional years, I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for their own personal growth?” – Carl Rodgers

Hi my name is Chad. If you’re reading this, it is probably because you have decided to make a change. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in multiple states. I was in private practice for 3 years before deciding that the administrative aspect of owning a business was distracting me from the face to face clinical work that I was most passionate about. I’ve spent my fair share of time working with a therapist and understand the worries of opening up to someone and trusting them. It’s a normal part of the process; in fact, one of the most powerful parts of the process.

I have found in my personal life and years of practice; that, sometimes things can just be. What do I mean by that? It’s when we sit with things and allow that process to take place without judgment or fear of it, is when our innate desire to grow and change takes over. I truly believe that everyone wants growth and progress. We just get stuck sometimes. The hard part is getting through that process of “sitting with things”. Those things can be fears, or past experiences, maybe even current things we can’t seem to work through. Often times the "monsters turn out to be just trees".

That’s where I come in. As a therapist my job is to hold space for that process and point out any common themes or emotions that continue coming up. My job is to meet you where you are at. My job is to allow you to just be, without judgement, while providing a relationship that becomes useful for your personal growth. At the end of the day we (myself included) all have things that surface, it’s what we choose to do with those things that matters.

What’s my approach? I could give you a list of clinical theories I work from, but, that’s only textbook knowledge. My true approach is my pursuit to truly understand not only myself, the world around me, but also the clients I work with as well. Our communications will mirror this, a dialogue between both parties. Where you can explore emotions or struggles in a safe space and receive feedback. I know the times I have sought therapy I was looking for a listener and someone to provide me with feedback or challenge my views on the situation. So be prepared for me to ask plenty of clarifying questions. I work with people regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, open relationships, or non-conforming beliefs in society. I have experience with LGBTQ+ issues, Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Addiction, and Non-Conforming Societal Beliefs. I also am willing to accommodate the average working individual with session times. I look forward to partnering with you and fostering a trusting relationship that benefits your personal healing and growth.

He’s awesome. He’s encouraging to me to be upfront with my issues and open about his style of communication. He has been a breath of fresh air after many failed attempts at finding a therapist who is the right fit for me. I feel comfortable bringing up lgbtqia+ issues with a gay therapist and a gay therapist who is also a man. Could not be happier with who I got matched with.

For the first time in a long time, I feel seen and hear. James is so present and intentional in our sessions.
