About me

In this day and age of the pandemic, finding the motivation to stay grounded in what's important to you seems to be what each individual faces today. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, my focus is in trying to help you regain clarity and direction while getting back on track with your life. I work with individuals, couples, and families struggling with mental health conditions such as: depression, anxiety, PTSD, bi-polar, ADHD, communication breakdown, co-parenting, family-of-origin issues, and substance abuse. My approach is client-centered and integrative in using various techniques and modalities designed to uniquely fit each presenting problem. I use CBT and family systems in treating many of the most common disorders and conditions and various other modalities that fit the situation.

I have a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University, CA. I am currently licensed in Georgia and Texas with over 15 years of experience. I work with anyone that walks through my door with distress but I do have several speciality areas. I have great extensive experience and training working with trauma and abuse (cult and ritual abuse); depression and anxiety; and substance abuse disorders. Some of the presenting issues I am commonly faced with in various contexts are: infidelity and communication breakdown as well as marital enrichment (couples and relationships); co-parenting difficult teens, depression, anxiety and goal setting , as well as finding motivation (teen and family counseling); and the spectrum of commonly-faced conditions that clients experience such as: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, bi-polar, OCD, work-related issues and other self-improvement difficulties. I value each person's unique experience and history as they find the courage to seek therapy when there is no one else to turn to. I do not judge anyone and I will try and help anyone regardless of their orientation. This includes everyone whether you are in the LGBTQ community or of another ethnicity/race. I will support you and fight for you but you will need to do your part as well. I look forward to helping you face the challenges that brought you to seek therapy! Let's navigate these uncertain times together.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for James Mann. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I have only had two sessions with James Mann and he has been phenomenal. I was very nervous going into therapy to begin with. I have never really opened up about much of anything, especially in detail. James makes it very easy to talk to and not feel judged or like I should leave certain parts out. We agree on several things outside of my “problems”. It’s nice to know I’m not alone when it comes to my “problems” and other things. I cannot wait to book another session with James.

Dr. Mann is very easy to talk to and a great listener. He is very insightful and unbiased. I have only had a few sessions but feel like I am making progress and am able to see things from a new perspective.

With James Mann as a therapist I could right off the bat tell he cared for his patients. When he told me he could see why I would want to cancel with him I knew he understood depression and anxiety. I learned with him my first session that there is a 50 50 chance with "what if" thoughts and it opened my eyes to intrusive/ overthinking thoughts that cloud my mind. He want's his patients to understand themselves which is important to self analysis. From speaking to him once I know that he can help me uncover the unreliable thoughts I have.

I’ve tried therapy in the past but I never felt a good connection with any of my past therapists. But James has a way of making you feel comfortable and heard. It’s a very freeing feeling to be able to open up about so much of myself that I’ve kept inside my whole life. I feel like I’m making progress and learning so much about myself. I highly recommend James to anyone. He’s truly amazing.

He listens and understands my issues and always has something to work on if I don’t have much to talk about. It’s really helping me keep my well being in the front of my mind each week
