About Me

Hi. My name is Rob Phillips. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I have been in the field of counseling for over twenty years since my first short internship during my undergraduate work. I am skilled and knowledgeable in several counseling theories and modalities so I try to mold my approach to fit my client. I have experience working with crisis intervention, residential mental health, substance abuse, active duty military and children in Foster care. I received my Masters degree in counseling in 2009, and was licensed in the state of Florida in 2014. My job roles have ranged from staff counselor all the way up to Chief Clinical Officer for a statewide organization.

I would describe my approach as very client centered with goal setting that will allow us to collaborate on the best approach and practice to succeed in accomplishing the goals clients describe for counseling

The act of reaching out to identify ways of doing things better is a brave first step. I believe that this is the first action in a series of actions someone can take to enrich their lives , achieve personal goals, and live a life that is more authentically them

I’ve really enjoyed my time with Rob and we’ve really built up good rapport. I always like to call my friends after and tell them how Rob roasted me in my last session (in a helpful and constructive way). I feel very comfortable talking to him and value his opinions and recommendations!

I honestly can't thank James enough. James is an incredible cunselor and has been a life-saver. My sessions with him helped me gain back my strength, renewed my perspective and really helped me accomplish my goals. It's a journey that I didn't have to deal with alone as he has worked with me and guided me every step of the way. Therapy is not as common here in the Philippines and really didn't think it was for me but it's been the most amazing thing I've ever done. If you are looking for honest, compassionate, proven help, insight and answers in dealing with others and personal struggles, I have no hesitation in recommending James.

James helps me understand the world better and helps me improve my perspective of potential outcomes.

James (Rob) is just awesome. He is very ‘real’ and offers such helpful insight to me on a daily basis, and doesn’t judge me or shoot me down even when I’ve made a questionable decision. I feel comfortable sharing my thoughts with him even when they are anxiety fuelled because I know he will always offer me support and real life advice that I can utilise. Additionally he has a great sense of humour and style that makes you warm to him very easily. Thanks!

Rob's been patient and professional with me. The questions he's asked me have really help shape the way I view my life as well as how I want to live it. Thank you!

After only a couple of sessions with James, I am confident in his ability and skill set to work with me moving forward. He’s quick to respond, provides sound advice and is very approachable. I look forward to working with him moving forward.

I'm only 2 calls in plus some back and forth messaging but I am very hopeful about this process. I am committed to sticking with this for the foreseeable future so that my counsellor understands my tendencies and can help me work through my issues. I am ready to put in the work.
