Tim Smith

(MA, LPC, NBCC)

About Me

I am a licensed professional counselor and I am a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors, the Christian Association for Psychological Studies, and the American Psychological Association.

I currently live in Colorado Springs with my wife, Deanna, and our two adopted sons, Luke and Levi. I graduated from Wheaton with a BA in Psychology and worked for many years as a chaplain in the juvenile justice system. Then I obtained my MA in Counseling from Denver Seminary, and had a private practice in Denver for several years. God called us to missions, and we lived in Austria for four years while providing care for missionaries in Eastern Europe. I am still working with missionaries, as well as consulting, counseling, and supervising counseling interns.

I live in Colorado, and I enjoy all of the outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer: skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and climbing. I enjoy reading and hanging out in interesting coffee shops.

I am pursuing a doctorate in psychology, and the focus of my research is the assessment and promotion of resiliency in cross-cultural workers. I have over twenty years of experience in counseling, and I specialize in helping those who stuck in life, whether it be in a difficult relationship, situation or personal issues.

I am still new with Tim, but he has made me very comfortable with my transition to him. I look forward to the help he can provide me.

Tim is patient and doesn't want you to rush into anything. Writing Tim helped me clear my thoughts and understand what's going on inside of me and what I need to do to get better. This definitely helped me a lot.

I am not good with reviews or people but I feel I am getting help and we are localizing my issues.

Tim is easy to speak with, and he seems to have a map to take me through the process. I trust his judgement and I can be open and honest with him. His ethics and beliefs also match my own, which is pleasing and moves things further faster.
