I once had someone say to me, "Finding a good therapist is like finding a good pair of jeans." I have carried this concept with me throughout my career. It reminds me that struggling to make someone be "the right fit" for them may not always be the best approach. I believe this wholeheartedly. If I'm not the right fit for a client, we need to find someone who is. As for myself, I have worked in the mental health field for ten years. I initially worked as an ABA therapist: providing in-home behavior therapy to children and adolescents with autism. From there I moved on to working directly with adults in a one-to-one setting. I typically work with my clients on anxiety, depression, grief/loss, life transitions, work-related concerns, difficulty with family members and loved ones, and relationships. I have a Master's degree from Lewis University and am currently pursuing a Doctorate at Adler University in Chicago. I use two treatment modalities when working with my clients: Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. These approaches mean that we focus a lot on the future, what the client's goals are, how they can achieve their goals, and how quickly can they start seeing a difference. These counseling interventions mean I will strive to find out what is already working, or going better, and I will encourage you with positive psychology while respecting your autonomy and your pace. A client who is eager to take action, seek changes, and is seeking a helper would be a great fit for me.

Jamie has been amazing! My first appointment with her was at a very emotional time in life and she jumped right in, without knowing much of my background, to help me deal with the grief I was experiencing after losing my Dad. She is always available and really makes me focus on what I can do to fix the issue and why I am doing it instead of focusing on the issue itself. She sets goals with you and follows up with you weekly, which is a great for accountability! I am very happy that I was match with Jamie through Better Help!
My life is drastically better thanks to Jamie LaFevers and BetterHelp. I have no idea how I would have made it through this year without them.
Jaime has been patient and understanding with me. She listens and she is easy to talk to. She also helps come up with solutions to help me reach my goals. She is super easy to schedule with as well. I highly recommend her!
