About me

Hello, my name is Jamie Pillers. I received my undergraduate degree from Texas A&M Central Texas in Social Work. I then completed the advanced standing program at Eastern Washington University; I received my Master's Degree in Social Work.

My professional experience includes
1)Child Protective Service (CPS) in Texas working to preserve families.
2) Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) working in the Social Work and Behavioral Health Service department providing case management and brief therapy to Veterans.
3) Community Mental Health Agency- providing long-term therapy and case management services.

I believe that therapy is a combination of therapeutic modalities, as everyone is different, and not one therapy fits everyone. Sometimes, it is a little bit of this therapy and a little bit of that therapy. My therapy style is supportive, informative, educational, and, when necessary direct. I believe in treating everyone with respect and walking alongside you through your journey.

It's hard to find words that truly express how thankful I am that I was paired with Jamie. She has helped me so much over the last several months. Jamie listens to me, understands my needs, helps me identify and utilize skills, and is very encouraging. When I have had trouble navigating issues, Jamie has helped me find a pathway and retain the skills needed for the next time. I've learned so much and grown more than I knew was possible. It is very clear to me that Jamie truly cares about my journey and I'm so proud of all the progress I have made.

I was very nervous to start speaking with a therapist and Jamie has made it so easy. She made it feel organic and not robotic. Which is what I was nervous about. I feel like I can express a multitude of emotions and she always has a helpful comment. I feel a weight lifted on many levels.

I was very nervous about therapy. Jamie has listened to me respectfully and offered very good solutions to my personal battles. And by solutions I mean tools to help me through my day to day struggles. I’m excited to work on my past traumas with her as well. I trust her.
