About Me
Hello and welcome to Better Help! I look forward to getting to know and partner with you during our work here together.
My name is Jamie Preuss. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) here in Colorado. I earned my Master of Social Work degree, with an emphasis in clinical practice and an interpersonal trauma certificate from the University of Denver – Graduate School of Social Work in 2011. For the past 10 years, I have been working with individuals and a variety of family systems therapeutically, in addition to early-childhood focused prevention programs. Much of my experience and emphasis has been on supporting children, mothers, caregivers, and families who have children in the perinatal stage through age 8. I am a mother of two young children and much of my career has been spent understanding the needs, joys, challenges and frustrations of parenting and raising young children, including the post-partum period of life.
My practice is centered on creating a safe and supportive connection between myself and my clients to create and foster an environment in which healing and growth can occur. I take a reflective stance in my therapeutic approach, meaning that there is value in understanding how my clients live and experience their environments and have been impacted by their life experiences and circumstances, in a non-judgmental way. I look forward to connecting with you to listen and provide a supportive perspective and collaboration as you navigate through challenging chapters of life. I recognize that many of us are coping with struggles that have been amplified by the uncertainties and stressors COVID-19 has presented throughout the nation and the world, and see that many of us are in need of support, patience and understanding to others and ourselves during this time.
The frequency with which you can have access to a counselor to work through day-to-day emotions and problem solving is beneficial for most, and is a change from traditional counseling models. You are welcome to message me anytime through Better Help. I usually check messages most days, but am mostly offline on Wed&Thurs. I offer messaging, live chat and phone sessions with limited availability during mornings, evenings (primarily Monday and Tuesdays) and weekends. Please note that what you see in my calendar may not reflect my only availability, so feel free to check on available times with me through messaging first.
I look forward to connecting with you!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jamie Preuss. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Jamie has been with me now for about 2 years. She has helped me achieve so much more than I ever thought was possible. She is incredibly validating, kind, and patient. She is always able to help me articulate how I am feeling and help me talk through difficult emotions. I would highly recommend Jamie.
I have a hard time feeling comfortable talking to new people but I immediately felt at ease sharing with Jamie.
Jamie is easy to talk to and gives great ideas and support.
Jamie has taken the time to get to know me. I feel like she understands what I am going through and is invested in my healing.
I enjoyed our first session together. I felt acknowledged, and respected. I look forward to our next session
I appreciate the help
Best experience I have ever had with Counseling and therapy
Jamie is amazing. I’ve only had a few sessions with her and from day one she’s given me many tools to communicate more effectively and also to see a new perspective. I highly recommend Jamie as a therapist!
Jamie is a wonderful therapist that is able to dive deep down and ask questions that allow you to reflect on yourself. Really enjoy speaking to Jamie.
Jamie is one of the best things to ever happen to me. She makes me feel very seen and always is so respectful of the time we spend together. I feel like she is helping give me tools to feel better, not just giving me someone to talk to.
I love working with Jamie! She relates well to my personality and humor and helps me in a way that works for me. I don’t ever feel judged or like I can’t say what I’m thinking
Jamie is an outstanding counselor and I feel so fortunate to have been matched up with her. She is really invested in understanding me as a person and aligning her guidance and support to match my needs. She treats me with respect and concern and I feel comfortable talking with her about anything without judgment. Jamie has helped me process some of the most difficult moments over the past year and I owe her a debt of gratitude for leading me through to better days.
Jamie is truly a light in the darkness. Sometimes I forget she’s my therapist because it feels like I’m chatting with a friend. We hit it off immediately and for the first time I don’t feel judged or scrutinized. I cannot recommend her enough!
Jamie is a life raft. I feel cared for and deeply understood and that's really grounding in this crazy time.
Jamie has been wonderful to work with - she somehow manages to know when to let you just vent, and when to focus in on an issue to help you work through it. She is kind, thoughtful, compassionate, and dare I say has a great sense of humor.
I personally have been through therapy many times, and presented for treatment with several of the skills (good) therapists teach you - self awareness, understanding of emotions/feelings, ability to identify thought and behavior patterns and where they come from, but I can tell she would be fantastic at helping those who are new/newer to mental health care with building a solid foundation of all these skills and more.
2020 has brought so many challenges for most of us; being no exception myself I reached out for help on navigating some new paths in my personal and professional life, and she has guided me on my journey of breaking and establishing new behavior patterns for my own well being. She has been supportive through my family drama and provided resources I can dig in to in between sessions to further help me with my particular struggles.
I am so thankful we were paired together. Having someone who is easy to talk with that also manages to "get work done" is a skill set I cannot say I've found in every therapist I've sought treatment from.
Jamie is very attentive and cares a lot about what you have to say. She works hard to help you and has helped me a lot in only a few sessions. I highly recommend her.
Jamie is an amazing counselor! She really listens and has helped me so much in just a short period of time! I recommend Jamie to anyone!!!
