About me

Life transitions, challenging relationships, unhelpful habits, stress, or any change of circumstances can contribute to a cycle of anxiety, depression, grief, and other challenges. Left unaddressed, tough issues like these can stress the coping skills of anyone. For some, choosing therapy can be an important self-honoring choice in support of healing and reaching goals. Working with an experienced therapist can help reframe issues into an invitation for gentle self-care, reflection, effective action, learning and growth.

I am trained in many counseling theories and interventions, mainly drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Techniques, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. But my most important role is to be fully present and hold a compassionate, safe space for you to show up as you are. You are the expert on you. My intention is to support an exploration of what is going on, where you want to go, and how to get there—as well as offer helpful tools and along the way. This includes working with clients to identify and change habits of thought and action that may be holding you back from making satisfying progress in your life. I work with individuals to help effect inner and outer change. I am only licensed to work with clients in the state of California.

I look forward to working with you!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jamie Simmons. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Jamie is wonderful. I’ve recommended BetterHelp to so many people bc of the work he’s done with me. He’s honest and perceptive, which is incredibly helpful bc I often don’t know what I should be focused on & therapy itself seems overwhelming. Jamie is able to break things down, dispel what is less important and focus on what will allow me to move forward. I often feel inept in these situations, but Jamie is patiently giving me tools to understand and teach myself a better way to live.

I’ve worked with Jamie for a number of months and he’s helped me with everything that life has thrown my way. Difficulty in work, my relationship, and other stresses that I’ve struggled to navigate by myself. He listens and he helps. I always feel validated and supported. He gives me tools and perspectives that have made a big difference in my overall happiness.
