About me
Hello,
Welcome to BetterHelp!
My name is Jan Edwards and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Registered Art Therapist. I work with individuals, couples and families and enjoy helping my clients achieve their goals. I have been a trainer in Trauma-Informed treatment which emphasizes the importance of establishing a trusting, respectful, collaborative therapeutic relationship between clients and their therapist. I have been a therapist in residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment centers, outpatient agencies and in private practice. I have worked with clients of all ages and with diverse issues. I have also worked for 6 years as a Military & Family Life Counselor with the Army and appreciate the strengths and challenges of the military culture. My approach may incorporate cognitive behavioral techniques, art therapy interventions or mindfulness activities but I always strive to tailor my interventions to what will be most helpful for my client.
I believe wholeheartedly that the foundation for any growth in therapy is rapport and trust between myself and my clients. Therefore, I am always open to calls to answer any questions you may have, to help you decide if working with me will be a good fit for you. You are welcome to message me anytime through Better Help. I usually check messages twice each day, seven days per week. I offer messaging, live chat and phone sessions, including evenings (last appointment is 6:00 pm) and on Saturday (9-4). Please note that what you see in my calendar may not reflect my only availability so you always want to check that out with me through messaging first.

Jan has been the one of the most outstanding therapists I have had the pleasure of connecting with. Having worked together for prolonged periods of time, she really shows that she listens and has great continuity from one session to the next. She provides great advice or a fresh perspective when necessary. The conversations are always engaging and you really feel listened to and worked with. She has made a big difference in guiding me through my situation and I recommend her as highly as possible!

Jan has been really easy to talk to since the day we started our sessions. I like the way she offers different solutions or strategies for how to approach different conflicts in my life. My self-esteem has improved greatly since starting with Jan.
