Jane Addis Docken, LPC, LMHC
About me
My name is Jane Addis Docken. I'm a native Oregonian, born and raised, living all of my life in Oregon until recently when I transplanted to Washington to live closer to my adult daughters and granddaughters. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Oregon since 2001 and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington State since I moved to Washington in 2017 and have been practicing since 1995. I have experience working with clients with a wide range of issues including depression and anxiety, childhood and adult trauma, stress (and wow, don't we all experience that), relationship and communication problems with couples/families, anger management, self esteem and body concerns as well as coaching and guiding clients on how to live and thrive in this very weird point-in-time we are all experiencing.
I love hearing the stories people want to share & helping them find solutions to their problems. I look forward to hearing your stories and concerns. I believe in focusing on building skills & reframing negative thoughts with a positive spin. I practice using a variety of therapeutic strategies, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Trauma Informed Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Person Centered and Humanistic Therapies. I believe in meeting someone where they currently are in their growth and helping them achieve those things that have previously seemed out of reach and I firmly believe there is no such thing as a silly reason for reaching out for counseling.
I congratulate you for seeking assistance with your concerns; it's a courageous step to take and sometimes a little scary. I understand how fear can keep us stuck. As an example, I once jumped out of an airplane on a noteworthy birthday, primarily because I have a fear of heights. It was crazy scary and exhilarating at the same time and gave me such a sense of accomplishment by facing that fear. While I will be straight with you and gently confront where it's needed, I'm also a total softy and I'm moved to tears by the abused animal commercials.
Take that leap of faith to see what kinds of things we can accomplish together. In the meantime, stay safe and always remember to take deep breaths.

Jane Addis Docken has helped me tremendously. As a long time trauma worker who struggled more than ever this past year, her ability to help focus me on the core issues and work from a place of seeing my strengths while constructively addressing my challenges has been the most transformative for me. She is great at getting to the heart of the matter and providing tools that are well suited for me to work through what is my most difficult. She points out moments of progress and holds me accountable in an educational yet supportive manner. I have grown in my ability to stop, think and respond with strength more than ever. I am grateful for her gentle but no nonsense work with me and I highly recommend her!

I am lucky to have hit the ball right out of the park with this therapist. She’s a home run match for the therapist that I need to help me over some of the many things that are and have been bothering me. She’s a pleasure to share my story with, I feel lucky to have found someone that has her well rounded approach to therapy.

Only have had 3 sessions, but feel she is very attentive and quick to grasp the issues and very good at discussing/offering solutions. I am comfortable with her and am relieved to have her help during this difficult time where I don't feel like I have anyone else who can help me.
