About me

I qualified as a counsellor/therapist in 2009 achieving a BSc degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Immediately after graduation I set up my private practice, initially I had an office in Brentwood, now my office is based in Ongar, Essex. I have built my private client base up by advertising through the Counselling Directory which has lead to a lot of referrals. In addition I started work on a self employed bases with West Essex Mind, I have worked for them for approximately 8/9 years, In March 2019 an opportunity to work for a group of schools in Tilbury came my way, within this environment I offer counselling and support to members of staff. I still work for both Mind and Schools.
I work mainly with CBT and incorporate Mindfulness and some Person-Centred counselling depending on clients needs. My best work I feel is with Anxiety, Depression and low self esteem issues, however, I also have experience working with abuse, eating disorders, addictions, couples, children, bereavement. I am a good communicator and listener who has a positive outlook, I have the ability to motivate others to help them become their best selves. I believe that I am enthusiastic individual who is hard working, reliable, honest, kind, considerate and caring. I am competent enough to deal with situations that present when dealing with individuals, I am extremely understanding and empathic which I believe helps me with clients,
I feel I have a happy engaging personality and consider I am liked by others. I believe I respond with a positive and calm attitude which helps me achieve the best possible outcome in any event.

Working with Jane has been really helpful for me. She has always been supportive and encouraging during our sessions, giving me practical tools for dealing with difficult situations, and encouraging me to question my thought patterns. I feel I have gained confidence in opening up as Jane is a great listener and provides an objective viewpoint.

Jane has been helpful through the short time I have been seeing her. She is no-nonsense and goal focused, rather than just talking and talking, which has not worked for me in the past. I have learned many coping skills and exercises to do to help me manage anxiety. Thanks Jane!

Jane is fantastic. She has been great during our video sessions and she's always quick and attentive when responding to my messages.
She has taken the initiative many times and messaged me if I was not following up or if I hadn't book a session for the week.
She always tried to accommodate to my times as much as possible, even changing her availability when it would be better for me.
I can't recommend Jane enough, she's a marvelous therapist!

I worked with Jane over the course of a couple months and really felt a massive improvement in how I felt. Jane gave me the tools to be more confident and have more self-belief, whilst also learning to not be so hard on myself.
Jane is also a really lovely person who wants the best for the people that she works with, I am very glad that I was paired with her!

I've worked with Jane for a month and can clearly see how I've grown over that period. Jane has been helpful, and spotted areas of concern that I wasn't aware of. She's offered advice on how to deal with them and worked with me to set achievable and manageable goals throughout the month.

I've been really pleased with how it's gone.
