Janet Thies, LPC
About me
I have been a Licensed Practicing Counselor for 10 years--working in both community and as a middle school counselor. My Bachelor's Degree was a double degree in Regular and Special Education, which I worked in for about 28 years before completing my Master's in Counseling, receiving my LPC and NBCC, and then working as a middle school counselor for 10 years. During those years, I also teamed with other counselors within the community working with family conflicts, adoption, child custody, and the foster care system (becoming a foster parent myself enabling me to understand the children, foster parenting, and the system). Part of my philosophy, concerning counseling, is that I can better enable and empower my clients if I have experienced some working knowledge of the feelings they experience in different situations. I retired six years ago but have decided to start counseling on-line because I truly miss working with teenagers and adults! My focus is on ADHD, OCD, traumatic brain injury, families, bullying, LGBT issue, abuse, neglect, and trauma, multicultural families, foster and adoptive families, separation and divorce, depression and anxiety.
Thank you for reading my profile and I look forward to the possibility of working, as a team, to relieve, empower and create a happier mind-set!
I basically focus on cognitive-behavioral therapy, client-focused, and brief therapy.
