I received my undergraduate work in Leadership . This is where I learned that leadership isn’t just a title, or position. That leadership encompasses character, and through leadership the importance of relating , and inspiring others. I do this through effective listening to those I work with to help determine what motivates each person. So they will be inspired to consider improving their own lives.
This has also benefited me tremendously in counseling to focus on seeing each person as unique individuals by valuing their perceptive as well as life experiences.
My education in social science with emphasis in career vocational counseling, and general counseling; also prepared me to support individuals who may be experiencing difficulties in the workplace or adjusting from career changes, or concerns.
I currently have over a year in a half of experience as a doctoral student with emphasis in psychology. My passion is to better understand the science of the mind and behavior. My goal is to return to grad school in 2021, to work towards my PhD.
I have over 8 years of clinical experience, my training includes cognitive behavior therapy. As well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is adaptive Information Processing model. It can be used to support individuals by accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experience by bringing these to an adaptive resolution. Successfully treatment with EMDR therapy, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced (EMDR,2020).

Janetta reaches right to the heart of the matter. She’s the first therapist I trust with my story and I appreciate the therapeutic relationship we’ve created together
Mrs. Janetta is amazing. I only had two sessions with her so far and from the 1st day I was able to open up to her with no judgement. Looking forward to more sessions.
I really enjoy having Janetta as my counselor. In real life, I've found it hard to find a counselor that fits me, but this really does feel like the right match for me. Her communication style is one that makes sense to me and I, so far, I have felt that she understands the complicated emotions that I am experiencing . Additionally, I really like that she sees our relationship as a collaboration. It makes me feel capable and empowered, rather than like a broken person who needs to be fixed.
She is a great listener. She is encourages and supports me and helps me articulate things in my mind that I have trouble expressing. She has an easy going personality. Makes me feel comfortable and is ready to help me work through my responses to life situations.
I really liked how Janetta was able to empathize with my grieving process. She really takes the time to develop exercises to try to get to know you and create an opening for discussion.
Ms. Sledge has helped me out so much, having someone to talk to has helped in ways I can’t explain ! This Thursday is my Mom’s birthday, it will be the first time I celebrate her birthday since she passed away 21 years ago this June! I believe Ms. Sledge is a God send!
Janetta has been very helpful and encouraging with my concerns and life issues. I look forward to my sessions with her. She’s the bomb dot com!
Janetta is great! She listens but also provides meaningful feedback.
