The most important thing about me is: I do NOT know all the answers and will not presume to tell someone what to do with their lives. My strength is in my ability to help people find their own answers. I listen, I question, I explore meanings and reflect back - this process allows for discovery, insight, and change. I don't judge, I am accepting and supportive; My passion is to help people find the strengths already inside of them.
The following is from my website "www.J9CounselingAndConsultation.com":
J9's career began as an individual and group therapist for survivors of domestic violence at a homeless shelter in New York. She helped clients understand their natural inner strengths and empower themselves to achieve their goals. She also facilitated groups educating women on healthy relationships, self-esteem and ways to recognize the cycle of violence. For six years, Janine was the Director of Family Services at an adolescent in-patient drug rehabilitation program. Via individual therapy, family therapy, multi-family group therapy, and parent education nights - Janine helped families to learn about chemical dependency, relapse, and recovery.
After moving to Connecticut in 2006, Janine started helping middle school students and their families via an out-patient counseling program. Middle School is notorious as a very difficult phase in life and Janine helped innumerable students through issues including family conflict, divorce, addiction, suicidal ideations, phase of life issues, social skills, and more. Janine's private practice currently runs out of her office in East Lyme, CT. "J9" is derived from the spelling: "JaNINE".
