About me

I am a dedicated Marriage and Family therapist, having practiced now for 6 years. After gaining real life experience raising my three children, I went back to school to become a mental health therapist. I have worked with clients from many walks of life, spanning from traumatized children, juvenile offenders to retired adults taking care of their aging parents. I am specialized in couples therapy and family therapy. I also work with individuals while using the family systems approach to help them see that their struggles often stem from the dynamics that were present in their childhood families.

I have helped many people struggling with parenting problems, relationship issues, problem sexual behaviors (children/adolescents only), depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and ADHD. I have also helped people who have suffered physical trauma, sexual molestation/assault and emotional abuse.
My counseling style is warm and conversational. I ask questions, offer reflection of what I hear and observe, and welcome the telling of stories. People benefit greatly when they have the chance to tell their story. I believe in treating everyone with respect, acceptance, and compassion. I don't believe in stigmatizing labels though sometimes a diagnosis can help validate one’s experience and help explain to family and friends that there is a legitimate limitation causing cognitive or relationship problems.

My therapeutic approach combines family systems theory with person-centered practice. I rely heavily on the client’s input to determine the course of treatment and where to start as we begin our conversation. My efforts focus on the unique and specific needs of my clients.

You have shown real courage in taking this step toward getting support from a licensed therapist. It is my hope that I can walk beside you on your journey toward a more peaceful and satisfying life. Each courageous step you take to develop a more solid sense of who you are and how you relate to the social world around you brings you closer to living in peace and contentment, even when the circumstances around you are not ideal.

I hope to start working with you soon!
