Jarrod Balmer, LCSW
About me
As you are reading my counselor profile, I FIRST would like to acknowledge this important step in seeking support for your emotional wellbeing; that action step can often be herculean, but here you are!
I am a Clinical Social Worker licensed in Pennsylvania. My clinical experience has been working with folks across the lifespan in community mental health settings, specifically Penn Medicine and CHOP. I have 8 years experience in the field and began my own practice, Okan Wellness LLC, earlier this year. I have supported clients addressing various stressors including Trauma and PTSD, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, depression, the challenges of emerging successfully into adulthood and stress management.
When working with individuals, I use a down-to-earth, person-centered and holistic approach to support your gaining insights and building skills to achieve your identified goals. My goal as a clinician is ultimately supporting clients to internalize the successes we share together in order to build resilience and confidence in facing future challenges.
I work from a trauma-informed perspective with a foundation of Cognitive Behavioral, Mindfulness and Holistic strategies to help you manage stressors and achieve integrated wellbeing and overall wellness; We will collaborate to determine which specific modality aligns best with your needs.
I look forward to our first conversation!

Jarrod is a professional, kind and caring yet stern when needed. He uses positive reinforcement and gentle lines of questions to allow me to come to new realizations or create plans of action without scrutiny. It’s a very safe-feeling conversation. I appreciate the opportunity to be helped along on my journey by him!

Jarrod is a wonderful listener and he treats me with respect. I find it very easy to talk with and him and have never felt judged. He sends worksheets that are very helpful and incorporates the lessons into our sessions. One of the best therapy experiences I’ve had so far.
